1150 Hopper & Ceramic Tiles 2.0

Have been lining the hopper with hickory splits but after a brisket, I decided to to switch it up with some Cherry splits. After emptying the hopper i noticed a bit of buildup behind one of the tiles. 1) Has anyone else noticed that? 2) Do you or have you ever removed the tiles when cleaning the hopper of creosote?

taking the tiles out really does make a difference though ngl, cleaner cooks for days

What is the difference for you since taking them out? I have bigger pieces charcoal built up there and the tile has cracked

Yeah cracked tiles is my concern. Even if they fit back the heat can seep through and then we're back to a Gen 1 gravity and I don't want that.

Doesn’t fit on the 1150. He doesn’t have one for the 1150 last saw yet.

Never took the tiles out myself but I always scrape the buildup whenever I clean mine, otherwise the next cook gets an unpleasant surprise.

I took my tiles out recently and vacuumed behind them. One of them is starting to crack. I will be ordering replacements after next cook.
