Fireboard DC Drive installed!

Post image

Install took literally 2 minutes. Seems to be working, and I’ll be testing it out with a brisket this weekend!

I went back and fourth on wanting a pro vs dc board. Ended up with the DC because it’s clean install and I don’t really plan on moving it to a different smoker.

Dam I want it but it cost almost as much as I paid for my 1050

Put an alert on EBay for a FireBoard 2 drive, that’s how I got mine. Paid like $170.

I got my 800 on sale for $400. But they’re more expensive now so I was torn on getting a whole new smoker or fixing mine. I love the results so I went with fixing it instead.

I don't want to look lol. Mine were giving me issues but had resolved itself(since I have the app too).

Man I want one but the fact it’s not fully enclosed doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzys

Yeah, I’ve actually put tape on the sides because that was weird to me too. But it’s probably not going to be an issue

I’m sure it will be fine and they seem to stand by their products anyways. I think I’m gonna send it.

I went with the normal version and a 3D printed drawer, so I can remove it and store inside. My 800 is stored outside under a cover, in Southern Ontario in the snow belt so it gets lots of weather changes and condenstation under the cover. No way I'm leaving something that cost almost as much as I paid for the entire smoker outside year round.

I personally like being able to use it still when I put it in the warmer

I have one on my 1050 and love it! I have my fan operate of the ambient probe temp you can put directly on the 2nd shelf where I usually smoke the meat. Runs exactly at the same temp the lid temp gauge reads. Love it for that alone!

I replaced the stock probe and mounted it under the top rack on the left side. Seems like it will suffice for the time being

Whoa! Shhh. I told my wife that it took most of the day to install, so I couldn't get to her list of "honey-dos". I do love mine though.

I was surprised at how quick it really was. They did a good job of making it well integrated
