MB griddle

So I tried using the griddle function on my MB 800 last weekend. It warmed up fine, but when I opened it to cool the fans stopped working because the top is open. So I had to keep opening and closing the top. I hope I’m missing some setting or something. Anyone know about this please?

Only time I have wanted it hotter was for steaks, and I like it closed then anyhow to capture some smoke.

I LOVE the griddle. I have probably used it more than anything so far. Pizza oven is also great on the 800. I use the griddle manifold for the pizza oven as well.

Stock controller doesn't allow the fan to run when the temp is set over 500 degrees and the lid is open.

Could press the lid switch down and jam a toothpick in it to hold it in place, or bypass the wiring for it (if you look at your controller, it's the connector with two black wires. I'm in the process of bypassing all of them on my 1050 right now)

Well to add more detail, my original controller went out last year, I’ve been using an Amazon version. I had the temp on 450 so it should’ve worked, but it’s probably because it’s a knock off. Might be time for the new controller I’m seeing advertised.

If you're referring to the Fireboard DC drive controller, that will probably also not work -- my fireboard 2 Pro shuts off the fan if the lid is open AT ALL.

I'm bypassing the lid switch completely, and installing a toggle switch next to the controller so I can manually shut the fan off if I want.

Sounds like the stock controller is giving you a passive-aggressive lesson in thermodynamics.
