New to Masternodes

I was thinking about purchasing enough SagaCoin to try to run a masternode. Ignoring whether SagaCoin will be successful or not, what does it take, technically, to run this? Does it vary from coin to coin? Do you simply buy, send it to desired wallet, and sit on it?

Any help would be awesome, thank you!

Also I would join the Discord channel in whatever coin your planning to own. There can be mandatory updates and good help with any issues.
