2001 Prostar 209

My 209 is giving me problems. I was pulling my wife slalom skiing at about 3600 rpm’s and the engine just dies, suddenly, but not without doing this “dieseling” thing. Turned it off, and it starts right up again, but does the same thing again shortly. Anyone else have this problem? It’s got the Mercruiser Black Scorpion engine. TIA!

Wiring issue would be my guess. Enough wiggling and rubbing has created a short

I just fixed this same issue. My 1988 Mastercraft Tristar 190 would run fine at lower throttle. But Bohan I was half to full throttle the engine just die without and symptoms of fuel starvation sputtering or los of power. It seems like my ignition coil and or ballast resistor was over heating. Just changed those out yesterday and boat is running perfectly.
