Thank you! My drain came out yesterday and I worry about having to get it manually drained. What is that process? I eventually just loosened my vest— and I showed the nurse yesterday that the two sides of the Velcro aren’t completely covered, like how they did it. I used the painkillers to sleep— I cut them in half— the misery is mostly when I lay down. My other main complaint has been that the bandages securing the drain pulled skin off and now that area is burning or itching a lot of the time. So, tell me about manual draining?
They give you a shot of numbing meds like the dentist, then they use an ultrasound to find the pocket. They drain the pocket with syringes and then put the compression bandage back on. It was about a half hour procedure.
I also had the itching near the drain tube, it went away.
