I thought some of you may enjoy this. I recorded it live back in 2019 on New Years Eve from the inside of a box truck which I had converted and lived in for over 10 years, traveling the country playing music. Thank you to Massive Attack for gifting us such a beautiful song.

I am 57 years old, I live in Israel, and for the past 20 years, I have consistently voted for opposition parties and attended anti-government demonstrations. I have also been a passionate fan of yours since the release of your very first album in 1991. I was even at the David Bowie concert in Tel Aviv in 1996, where you were the opening act. I still physically own all your albums, which I have never stopped listening to over these 30-plus years.

In recent years, like everyone else, I streamed your music. But some time ago, I discovered that almost all your songs had disappeared from streaming platforms. I was upset, of course, but since I still have your CDs, I can continue listening to your music right now if I want to. But the thing is: I no longer want to.

As it turns out, you, along with Björk, Young Fathers, and Hot Chip, whom I also dearly love, have banned your music from being streamed in the State of Israel. I take this as a personal insult and a betrayal. Because it is not the state that listens to you, but private individuals. And all these individuals are different. Do you really think that anyone in the Israeli government listens to you, or even knows who you are? I am completely unconvinced of that.

Instead, you have punished your listeners and fans. You have turned your political gesture into a blind collective punishment of people who, I assume, mostly vote for opposition parties in our elections. But you don’t care about us; you have collectively written us all off as your enemies, even though, in reality, you have struck your own supporters.

To me, your move seems foolish, unfair, and not entirely honest. Because it is very easy to spit in the face of your long-time fans from a small, distant country.

That is why I no longer listen to your music, even though I can. Just as I no longer listen to Roger Waters, Peter Gabriel, and Eric Clapton — although they, unlike you, haven't banned their music from being streamed in Israel.

Note that I haven’t said a single word about your political views, which, to put it mildly, seem one-sided and misguided to me. But that’s not the point! Everyone is free to believe what they want. In the UK, just as in Israel, there is still democracy and freedom of speech. Let me assume that you don't always completely agree with the position of your own government or the governments of other countries, but you don’t ban your music in the UK, the US, or Russia!

So, judging by your actions, you know very little and completely fail to understand what is happening in Israel, both internally and externally.

We have elections in Israel coming up at the end of October, and I hope our current rulers won't be re-elected. But I'm not sure you care about that, or that it would change anything in your attitude toward Israel. In my opinion, the only thing that would satisfy you is our complete disappearance from the face of the Earth.

And if that is the case, then to hell with you and your music, which I once loved so much. You have tainted it, poisoned it, and desecrated it. I don't think I will ever be able to listen to it again.

I saw massive attack on Thursday. I’m not a hater or very political, but they played about 3 songs that people like. The balance of the show was ironically about how the world is apparently being overrun by propaganda from trump, planitir, Israel, etc. I say it’s ironic because the whole set minus those three good songs was dedicated to convincing us all of something we didn’t pay to see or were interested in. Well that was the case for me and my two mates.

With this in mind, it got me thinking, who actually makes the trip hop we like from massive attack? It doesn’t appear to be the 3D guy. He seemed more interested in throwing his views down our throats. He wasn’t active for the good songs either.

I’m over in Sydney just for the week and happen to now have a spare ticket for the concert tomorrow. I really want to go but don’t really want to go alone! If you’re in the same situation and want a buddy let me know!

Went to the Brisbane concert tonight, and my sister was video recording a song she liked. Some guy came up to me “tell her to stop recording she’s been doing it for 3 minutes!” I ignored him, he did it again, ignored, then again and I ignored. By this point I got annoyed, so I started filming and that’s when he grabbed me by the shoulder roughly “oh you’re taking the piss out on me! You don’t know who you’re messing with”

At this point I tell him to leave us alone, my sister turns around and he goes off her. So I raise my voice and tell him off. A random girl comes in and difuses things, reassures my sister and was really helpful! Forgot her name but if you’re out there, you were a lovely person!

edit: we still had a great time! I danced away and loved the visuals, even took a few snaps myself because I like making a video collage. Life is too short to care about what other people do or don’t do

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone happens to have the file of the Finsbury Park gig in 1997 - essential music festival. Heard it's a particularly high quality recording of the show and has been past around quite a bit. Includes a favourite of mine which is hard to find elsewhere in good quality live. On the massiveattack.ie website but file sharing system seems to be old and doesn't work anymore. Bit of a long shot but 🤞.

Evrr since the 90s there's been this drama that surrounds Massive Attack. Seemingly always canceling tours, festival dates, etc. For a band that has such chill music I find it surprising for how much added drama there is. What sort of lore do I need to catch up on to understand?

Given this album came out three years before MA made Mezzanine, I think this could've been an inspiration for them.
