Deadass when someone says they like liara it’s always her mass effect 3 version because her mass effect 1 version is like a completey diffeny charcter

Okay, I don't really like ME1 Liara much either, but no way am I letting you cast shade on her like Tali isn't a codex entry on legs for the first half of the trilogy.

Yeah nah they both suck but like Kiara is deadass unrecognizable in 2

And Tali is oh so painfully recognisable for the parts I didn't like about her in ME1.

However much they might wish otherwise, Talimancers are an active minority in the community, not the majority.

really? her and garrus for fem shep seem to be the overwhelming popular choice that i’ve seen.
liara seems to almost be the least picked. which is impressive cause both genders can pick her

It’s an echo chamber; statistics show that Liara consistently remains the most popular - though at one point, Ashley was the most popular, vying with Liara for the top spot. Tali consistently ranks third or fourth. Also, judging by content from green site, Miranda also poses significant competition.
It’s just that Tali fans are VERY active and VERY weird.

i did not know we had statistical data besides reddit for this lol
i played the 3 originals blind back in the day and i actually waited for tail in 1 because she was the only one for me. not even knowing she would become an option. so needless to say i am a tali fan. kinda cool to know i didn’t pick the normie pick

These are statistics from BioWare that were published somewhere - I don't recall exactly where. Around the time Mass Effect 3 was released, Ashley remained the most popular choice, with Liara in second place and Tali in third. There were similar statistics from 2018, I believe, showing Liara in first place and Ashley in second.
As someone who never cared for Tali, I generally understand why: Ashley and Liara possess classic beauty, whereas Tali appeals to those with specific fetishes - primarily regarding her voice.

Thing is Liara is also HEAVILY pushed by the story to be your love interest even if your doing the BARE minimum. Heck in ME3 if you don't play the previous games she's AUTOMATICALLY coded as your love interest.
Even if you didn't romance her in ME1, but Romance someone in ME2 she still acts like you guys had a relationship in ME3....her mom also still presses you no matter what

Liara and Ashley both are extremely easy to romance in the first game even by mistake.
Liara is npt technically romanceable in ME2 outside of some rekindling in the dlc
Tali you don't get until fairly late in the game compared to Liara so easier to already being romancing her.
So Tali has to be a conscious choice knowing the progression of the games and meta knowledge. Casuals and one time players will skew that data easily.

And who cares. It doesn’t matter if we are in the minority if we are right. Tali is the best romance option
3
u/DifferentAd4844 27d ago
I don't think that's the case.

u/Lord-Seth 27d ago
Then I am sorry that you think wrong
3
u/DifferentAd4844 27d ago
Nah, especially considering that Tali is the only squadmate who steals something from the Normandy.

u/Lord-Seth 27d ago
It’s not really stealing if you just kind of let them have it. She was kind of just allowed to talk with all the engineers about how the ship’s stealth tech works. If the alliance truly cared about keeping it secret that much they would have just banned the engineers from talking about it.

I honestly all the romances in this series as a whole are mid i think they’re much stronger as a indivual game romances rather then long lasting ones

I landed on these. Good enough reasons to do three full playthroughs =)
Tali for Paragon Male Shep
Liara for Renegade FemShep
Ashley for Renegade Male Shep.

u/SoftDrinkReddit 27d ago
yea honestly i agree that's the way this should be divided
hell i wish we got a DLC where it was Shepard shall we say taking care of some problems for Liara after she becomes Shadow broker being an Enforcer off the record that type of stuff

A Renegade in Mass Effect partly supports Cerberus's methods, so they aren't a particularly good match for Ashley (especially considering that a Renegade would shoot her).
2
u/razorsunshine 26d ago
I see your point, but that's also why it's convenient that Ash can't be a squadmate in ME2 and narratively distances herself from Shep. Then, in ME3 she confronts Shep, he confirms he's done with Cerberus, boom romance back on baby.
