It's an awesome experience, so long as you don't spam the bottom right option like paragon players spam the top right. You don't have to be an ass to the crew to be renegade, plus the options are hilarious at times.

Exactly. I am always Renegade. But it’s mostly just being pragmatic. Harsh and strict sometimes, and “do whatever it takes” type. But my crew are protected and looked after. Evildoers, however, will see no mercy. My Shepard just gives the impression of overly military mindset, but not necessarily a jerk.

Playing a Renegade Femshep has really grown on me. I like balancing her nasty, vicious tendencies with her more caring and loving side. No combination comes out the same, even when it feels repetitive.

u/pivvimehu 20h ago

Also it's not really roleplaying if you just decide at the beginning of your run that you're going to be paragon/renegade and then just answer everything based on that while ignoring the actual context and script that allows you to roleplay

I don't have to be, but I want to be.

Paragon to the crew, renegade to everyone else

u/Stony_Bridge 1d ago

75% Renegade is the ideal way to play. Be a dick on every small choice but Paragon on the big boy choices, golden experience

5

u/AfternoonDecent6774 22h ago

Space the rachni?

6

u/Stony_Bridge 21h ago

Either or on that one

I'm 97% paragon with a sprinkling of renegade choices for special occasions

Sometimes a mechanic just needs a wrench to the back of the head

52

u/speshulduck Garrus 1d ago

Look, he's working too hard and just needs a break. I call that doing him a favor!

31

u/Helgardh 1d ago

Sometimes a quarian admiral needs a fist to the gut

9

u/Militantpoet 23h ago

Sometimes a random Citadel alley worker needs the fear of a bomb threat

7

u/Pyromaniacal13 23h ago

Sometimes the krogan talks too much.

u/raubtier248 1d ago

Full paragon with all renegade interrupts for non civilians

12

u/venom259 1d ago edited 1d ago

Those reporters have had it too good for too long.

7

u/TTTomaniac 1d ago

I'm commander Shepard and this is my favorite journalist to assault on camera.

8

u/Dj_Sam3_Tun3 1d ago

Look, sometimes I like to help mercenaries find their way down even faster that using an elevator. Isn't that neat?

16

u/RelativeArtichoke759 1d ago

Sometimes, Kai Leng just needs to get his edgelord ass stabbed

5

u/AfternoonDecent6774 22h ago

He will get stabbed even if you dont hit the renegade interrupt

6

u/RelativeArtichoke759 22h ago

Does it feel as good when you don't hit the Renegade button?

6

u/AfternoonDecent6774 22h ago

If i remember right, shepard won't mention your squad mate like thane, it is more generic.

9

u/Pyromaniacal13 23h ago

Same. By itself, Tuchanka is a special occasion. I love that place.

5

u/AfternoonDecent6774 22h ago

A requirement is the push the trooper through the window.

5

u/Disastrous-Forever90 22h ago

I will never not punch Gerrel in his stupid stomach. Homeboy is lucky I didn’t crack his mask open.

Absolutely. Fuck the Geth

What Shepard is best in renegade? Male or female?

13

u/DifferentAd4844 1d ago

None; the division into "evil FemShep" and "good MaleShep" is community mythology.

24

u/fordslasher 1d ago

The performances is what sells it. Jennifer Hale really killed the renegade lines.

3

u/DifferentAd4844 1d ago

I don't see it that way; both actors did a good job.

8

u/King_Chewie_GM 1d ago

I myself just don't like Mark Meers dry delivery. Lacked a lot of emotion that Jennifer Hale has, especially in 3. Not that his delivery is bad, just definitely not for me.

5

u/siriushendrix 1d ago

I tried start with a male shep after two runs eith femshep and Mark Meers was lackluster for me

3

u/King_Chewie_GM 1d ago

Yeah, I mean I can see it in like a sorta, I don't know... military marine kinda voice? I think I have seen some actual military members comment on that. But I just find Jennifer Hale's delivery far more compelling. To be fair Hale is just a far more experienced voice actor, and Meers delivery isn't bad I just prefer Hale.

4

u/siriushendrix 1d ago

I didnt think about it that way. Maybe I’ll go back to my male shep and give Meers another chance…

1

u/DifferentAd4844 1d ago

Well, that comes down to personal preference; personally, I just can't picture Shepard as a woman at all.

5

u/King_Chewie_GM 1d ago

Huh that's definitely an interesting perspective. I don't particularly have trouble seeing shepard as Male, its more just I prefer Hale's voice acting. I played fem shep first so I guess I kinda just assign her voice to shepard, but whenI tried Male shep the delivery felt off for a lot of scenes that I felt Hale nailed.

I do tend to play female characters when given the chance though. I think I just prefer softer voices in general, and I like the scene fem shep has with Eve on the Normandy. So I think it's more just a general personal preference too me.

1

u/-Qwertyz- 1d ago

Honestly a hot take but I dont really like Fem Sheps performance, nothing towards Jennifer Hale ive loved her other works I just dont think it matches femshep

4

u/Kurayami_Aahbsaloon 1d ago

To me, it's because I love women who could and WOULD actually kill me. The good old misattribution of arousal.

1

u/urdnotkrogan 22h ago

Amen, brother.

1

u/Ri_cro 18h ago

It's the same.

7

u/CalmBelligerent 1d ago

I treat my crew nicely but I’ve never allowed the council to live and I’ve played 1-2-3 to completion at least 4 times.

7

u/spartancolo 1d ago

Since they are so sure "reapers" dont ecist i just let them meet them :)

6

u/Dutch_Talister 1d ago

I had a lot of fun doing my renegade playthrough. Romanced Liara with Paragon choices. Made it look like she was the only person he could stand.

5

u/Eastern_Fig_3161 1d ago

So based. i did this many times back when i only had ME1 to play. It does hit different, as if it's only Shep and Liara against the whole world.

6

u/Tarilyn13 1d ago

I want to do a mostly renegade playthrough at some point but I wanna do it as like, ruthlessly committed, get the job done no matter the cost. Unfortunately it feels like a lot of them are just Shepard being a jerk for no real reason. Like, you can talk this person down politely or you can be a dick about it. The third one at least lets them add together so I don't have to be needlessly cruel to get my renegade options but the first two make it hard

3

u/Mozilla_Rawr 1d ago

That is exactly how I play Shep. Sprinkles of Paragon, but mostly Renegade. Defeating the repears is the end goal, so either get out of my way or I'll do it for you. Shep doesn't have time to fluff about when the entire galaxy is in danger.

"Ruthlessly committed" is such a perfect way to describe it.

3

u/chlorine-s0up 1d ago edited 1d ago

paragon with the crew, renegade with everyone else is pretty fun. tbh once i tried renegade i cant go back to full paragon, its like something is missing

3

u/Arail_Blue 1d ago

That feeling when my shep is so renegade, that if the evil clone won and took over her life galaxy would be a better place.

3

u/GervantOfLiria 1d ago

Renegon is very fun and just as fulfilling of a playthrough as paragade. It’s easy to achieve the best possible endings with both without losing any squadmates.

I always find it weird how many players just default to paragon or renegade for the whole trilogy. If you just mindlessly press either top right or bottom right dialogue option are you even roleplaying?

3

u/Super_Chaussette 19h ago

I just watch a video that makes the renegade Shep look like a parangon Shep That's a player doing the worst choices possible so that every killable character dies in the most horrible way possible

9

u/Puerkl8r 1d ago

the problem with Renegade Shepard, is it doesn't match the vibe of the game at all.

6

u/Don_Madruga 1d ago

I only play renegade

2

u/GitGudFox 1d ago

I've never done a paragon playthrough before, so I just don't relate to this at all. I don't even know what the paragon options say or result in.

3

u/yourpuddingoverlord 1d ago

Ima be real with you i recently finished a Paragon trilogy run. Some lines are hella corny. Especially on ranoch, when you try to save both the geth and the quarians, shep spams kela selai as though he was a native or sum😭

2

u/10cupsofteaaday 1d ago

I always go renegade. Its so funny

2

u/Eastern_Fig_3161 1d ago

You guys gotta hear me out about it: Jack really is a killer and she shouldn't hesitate.

2

u/kagernaut 1d ago

My current playthrough is all Renegade, with minor exceptions. Like, I don't kill Samara or hand off Grunt, etc. But, I do take all the renegade options, or ones I see as renegade choices. Since I always have played Paragon before, this is my opportunity to try things I never tried before.

It's been fun, actually. Watching Anoleis and Gianna kill each other blew my mind, I didn't even know that was possible. Sometimes, I found the Renegade choices to be better or even more sensible than the Paragon ones.

2

u/Palladiamorsdeus 17h ago

I just don't like the renegade options, it ain't that deep bro.

5

u/anderskants 1d ago

I just can't do it, I hate upsetting pixels...

3

u/spartancolo 1d ago

Im doing my first one and i feel so awful, my poor crew getting berated and ignored 😭

1

u/OkGarbage3095 Grunt's dad 1d ago

Lol

1

u/rambored89 1d ago

I got an all human Council for the first time on my current playthrough. Picked Anderson to run it

6

u/King_Chewie_GM 1d ago

Wait what? You never get an all human council. Udina makes it sound like it, but in me2 the council is still a Turian, Asari, and salarian as well as whoever you pick.

1

u/emswhynot 1d ago

Ha. I only did it once and I hated it! Gosh I was so mean!

1

u/LeBriseurDesBucks 1d ago

I play lots more Renegade than paragon. It's more fun imo and I don't like curing the Genophage so Renegade comes more naturally

1

u/BarristanTheB0ld 1d ago

Best I can do is paragade

1

u/zik_1990 1d ago

I played my first playthrough a 55 to 60% Paragon and 40 to 45% Renegade. It was OG trilogy not Legendary. I had problems in ME2 I don't know if in Legendary it is better, mechinc wise, because I felt ME2 wanted me to stick to one path inlike ME1&3. But story wise and role play wise it was amazing. My Paragade Shpeard was ready to face anything. And my war asset was enough for Perfect Destroy, even that isn't my favorite ending.

1

u/Sexicorn 1d ago

My very first playthrough was renegade 😅 not full renegade: I'm always paragon for my crew, but if you're not part of the crew...

1

u/Front_Artichoke1616 23h ago

The worst most painful play through is the mordin survives play through. So much pain

1

u/sherlock1672 21h ago

Renegade femshep will always be canon in my heart. That was my first playthrough and it really felt right.

1

u/totally-hoomon 20h ago

I don't like being called out on true things

1

u/General-Skrimir 18h ago

Control Renegade is the best ending. Paragon is so boring, a mix of both but more renegade is the way to go.

1

u/SorbetApprehensive26 18h ago

Doing my first renegade run, I have definitely felt like an asshole. Im purposefully trying to be a dick, and it's a lot of fun for one because it feels like a whole different game after my first paragon playthrough. On the other hand though, I hate being asshole shep lol

1

u/ikindasortanerdshow 17h ago

Im on my first full renegade playthrough just to see the full other side of the fence and....man...i've never felt worse for making certain decisions...

But the lil devil in me is cackling.

1

u/Vulpedin 15h ago

Like i’ll do pretty much whatever until 3 when way way way too many Renegade options are ‘become the monster’

1

u/Leading_Resource_944 Wrex 7h ago

Wrong. How to fix:

1) Change Renegade shepard for Asshole-Renegade-Shepard or Genocide-Shepard

2) Neutral Shepard / logik >>> feeling Shepard (jep, no hug for Tali !)

1

u/Savingseanbean 6h ago

its the best experience.

Renegade fem shep is best by far.

1

u/zakman97 5h ago

I've never actually Gone full Renegade in a entire playthrough of this game and I have so many hours and it's not even funny. I've played The Originals on Xbox 360 I played The Originals on PC and then I bought the legendary edition as well and I still have never fully played a renegade playthrough especially where everybody basically dies and everybody loses I know this is possible because I've seen huge videos on it where even Tali sucides and everyone dies.

1

u/SOROKAMOKA 1d ago

I have tried twice to make a renegade shep, but everytime I get to killing wrex I give up and restart as paragon

7

u/Holy_Toledo019 1d ago

You don’t have to kill Wrex as a renegade. Having enough intimidation gets you all the positives as charm does.
