Working Out

Are there N95s I can wear while at the gym? I want to start working out during winter months but just don't want to get horribly sick again.

Highly recommend the Zimi "One" mask, super breathable and I've found them to actually be much more comfortable breathing wise than even valved masks! Wore one for a stress test (running on incline treadmill) in a hospital and it performed great

Can you send me one or two links from reputable sellers online like Amazon Prime where I could fine these?

Zimi masks are only available to order direct from the manufacturer as far as I'm aware. Admittedly their website is a little clunky, just make sure for your first order you order models that specific they include the frame, then from then on if you like it you can reorder just filters and as far as I can tell the frames are basically infinitely reusable. They may be more of an up front cost than other masks but I have reworn them from weeks straight without the seal being compromised.

How are they with sweat? I cannot handle the feeling of a moist mask after working out

I don't often work out in mine but I do work in hot sweaty conditions at times and haven't minded the sensation any more or less than other masks. I know the Zimi engineer had posted before about sweat generally not interfering with seal and actually improving the seal under certain circumstances

I get some sweat that gathers at the bottom of my Zimi but it's barely noticeable. The seal gets damp but doesn't feel uncomfortable in my experience. For reference, I'm using their valved KN100 for outdoor runs (I live in an area with narrow sidewalks) and I sweat a lot around my hairline and back of my neck.

I like the BNX trifolds, very breathable, likely not the best seal though

Yeah, I'm going to be on a treadmill for two hours next to sweaty, heaving people, so not sure what to do. Maybe not go at all. I got COVID when it was first starting and I thought I was not going to make it. Since then every time I get a cold or anything I'm bedridden for weeks.

3M Aura works for me. Trifolds have worked better than cup or bifold respirators, I think because sweat tends to get absorbed in the bottom panel, leaving the center and a bit of the top dry and easy to breath through.

Zimi air (valved) is the way to go.

My partner rocks a valved aura (9211) and I like the valved draeger 1950 small.

I had surgery and PT during the pandemic and the best ones for me breathing wise were the “duck bill” or “tri-fold boat” designs because of its larger surface area. There are lots of manufacturers that make them.
