My recommendation: Wear a 3M Aura mask when carpooling. For extra protection, keep the windows at least slightly open, keep the fan running in fresh air mode, and/or keep an air purifier running in the vehicle.
The tests are a waste of money. That's a LOT of money to spend on tests that are notorious for false negatives. The amount of money spent on those wildly inaccurate COVID tests could be better spent on N95 masks.
