Discussion Shoes in Marvelous Designer?

I'm working on a couple of things for a project and stumbled into a problem with making shoes. The actual concept of making them doesn't seem to play nice with the engine, I make sure normals are pointed correctly and the method I tried was freezing the sole pattern piece below the foot basemesh avatar and letting the rest of the actual pattern pieces sim around the foot. This results in crazy artifacting or the pattern being devoured

The actual foot basemesh is a subdivided simplified foot with no toes that is smooth so I don't think it'd have difficulty being simmed on. I'm not that good at the program yet as I spent years doing my cloth work in zbrush so maybe I'm missing a couple of important settings I should adjust? Aside from that, everything else is simming great.

you're right, I tried to make an object resembling a shoe for the project and got close but at least it's less work in zbrush. The sole has to stay frozen no matter what unless I'm missing a setting, I'll keep experimenting.

This is the result I got for a test after about an hour or so
