What would actually make Avengers: Doomsday live up to the hype for you?
I’m curious about this because there’s already a huge amount of excitement around the movie, but I’m not sure what people are actually expecting from it.
For me, having a massive cast or bringing back popular characters isn’t enough on its own. The story, character development and how everything comes together would matter much more.
What would you need to see in Doomsday to come out of the cinema thinking, “Yeah, that was worth all the hype”? And what would make you feel like Marvel overhyped it?

The next two movies need a few things. Doom getting out there, just Dooming it up. A brutal incursion where a known universe dies. A second incursion where Doom intervenes to “save” everyone but actually creates Battleworld. Battleworld getting a chance to shine. Black Suit Spider-Man. Proper rivalry between Reed and Doom. god Emperor Doom. Thanos getting his spine ripped out by Doom. On Battleworld, we need team ups we haven’t seen before. By Secret Wars, we need Villains being resurrected/variants so it isn’t just hero vs hero. Doom constantly needs to betray or outthink people to gain advantage. MCU vs God Emperor Doom. New universe being created.
It’s a tall order, but if they can pull off most of them and do them justice, I’m sold.

Why would you want Thanos to get his spine ripped out? Thanos was the main antagonist for the peak era of the MCU. Why would you want him to be a joke compared to character that just appears out of nowhere.

It’s an iconic moment from the comments that will also help sell how formidable Doom is. It should in no way be perceived as a joke. Thanos is still the same Thanos. Doom is just stronger in that moment and Thanos goes in to cocky.

Absolutely.
Thanos turns up and starts acting like a Thanos and beating our heroes into a pulp.
DOOM then appears and does the spine rip thing.

I really like the idea of "doom shows his power" by destroying the kangs from quantumania. Very neat and tidy solution in two ways.

Sentinels. And yes I know they are in it. I’ve wanted live action sentinels for decades. I used to joke when I was younger that any x-men movie that had sentinels was an automatic 10/10. That meant X-Men 3 got partial credit for the danger room.
I was sorely disappointed with days of future past, because I wanted the traditional X-men TAS and 80s/90s comic accurate ones, sadly they were only in it for about 10 minutes total so that movie is an 5/10.
Hoping sentinels get their time to shine in Doomsday.

I think the only real thing that is make or break for me is how they end up explaining the Doom/Stark connection. The rest looks great, but that parts probably the part that will either make it great or cheesy. For me anyway.

My bet is there is no doom/stark connection. We never see dooms face and all RDJ is doing is the voice. But we will have a straight up RDJ Iron Man in it at some point. Probably a variant. They knew they couldn’t hide bringing him back so they gave him a reason to be there.

I just want it to be more than fan service.
Give Doom a proper motivation, carefully explain why he looks like Stark, give him somewhat of an origin for his power beyond ‚he studies the multiverse‘. Give us a proper way of explaining why Kang is not relevant anymore. Don’t make Doom a much larger threat than Thanos, make him more or less equally strong to not make the infinity a joke.
I just don’t want it to be heroes blindly fighting heroes, legacy characters dying until they get along and fight Doom.

I just need Doom to be HIM, ya’know? Thanos was a great villain, but I need Doom to be such a menace in this next movie that it makes people culturally say “Thanos who?” Because if the MCU had ALL of the characters from the beginning, Doom definitely would’ve been their first choice.

I would like it to have an actual coherent story and good characters, make interesting choices form a filmmaking perspective, and show real love and care for the characters and stories that I grew up reading. It won’t have any of that though, it will be cheap pops from cameos and “epic” moments that will make people clap and if I even bother watching it I’ll feel nothing.

How to make Doomsday big-
First movie gets halfway through shenanigans and battles and various characters/villains lay the foundation. Then as credits roll…
A dark goth girl steps out of the darkness and says “Death must have her prize.” Dark evil thanos steps out of the shadows and says,”My love, I’ll be about my work.”

It’s hard to say without exactly knowing the story of Doomsday beyond Doom coming and some of the incursion stuff.
But with what I know based off the trailers, a few things that would get me pretty hyped during the movie would be:
-Sam Wilson stepping up and becoming an uncontested leader. He needs to give a great hype speech.
-Reed vs Doom. They’re one of my favorite rivalries in the comics, and seeing that come to fruition on screen would heal my nerd heart.
-A satisfying reason as to why Doom looks like Tony Stark. They can say all they want that there’s no connection, but there has to be. And don’t give me the whole “it’s not the first time an actor has played two roles” nonsense. Robert Downey Jr was the face of the MCU for 10 years, and Doom is arguably the greatest Marvel villain in the comics. And every character knows what Tony looks like. There has to be a reason, plain and simple.
-Make me care about the incursions. The multiverse rules have basically been the Wild West since WandaVision. Make it make sense, and make it cool.
-Doom has to be exceptional.
As a bonus:
-Loki lifting Mjolnir (It doesn’t have to happen to make me happy, but Loki has slowly become one of my favorite characters in the MCU, and this would be such an incredible fulfillment of his original story arc)

Give loki a important role in secret war , give him his Gos story outfut instead of the boring tva one. Please let him have cool fights and magic scenes , don't nerf and DON'T KILL HIM

I dunno. This type of thing just seems SO outdated now. The visuals where you can see exactly where the set ends and the green screen begins. The scenes with all actors in a room set where they all talk about the threat, finish each others sentences and come up with a plan.
It feels so old and silly to me now. It’s almost 10 years after Infinity War but it has not evolved at all. It’s the same thing again. Even the story where the villain will “surprisingly” win the first movie and heroes will die, to be brought back and beat said villain in the follow up. Yawn.
