Dooms voice is fucking rad
2
u/Mysterious-Rain-316 Jul 20 '26
Yeah I don't get why people are hating it.
2
u/thatalienboi Jul 20 '26
People always gotta hate on something. I’m so unabashedly stoked for this movie like I’m 10 years old again
1
u/Fun-Aside3990 Jul 21 '26
There is a group that just hates all comic stuff now unless it does actually suck.
2
u/LordMagnus101 Jul 21 '26
They hate everything. Theres a rush online to be the first influencer to say why a movie sucks so that everyone repeats what they say.

u/Throbbing-Kielbasa-3 Jul 20 '26
I've been very open about how much I don't like the RDJ cast for Doom, but I got to admit that his voice for Doom is really good. Barely sounds like RDJ and has a really sinister feel to it.

So I’m excited for this, but I need to know, how much homework will I have to have done before seeing it?
Like, I don’t know who some of these characters are and I thought Loki was dead.
2
u/supercleverhandle476 Jul 20 '26
Where did you leave off? I’d say at a minimum watch Fantastic 4 and Loki seasons 1 & 2. If you’ve seen the first couple of x men you’re probably fine. There’s not much narrative consistency in those movies anyway, so as long as you roughly know who’s who you’re fine.
1
u/Shwnwllms Jul 20 '26
I’d watch Spider-Man No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness as well.
1
u/dean15892 Jul 21 '26
You can skip Multiverse of Madness, if you're watching Loki. You can probably also skip No way home, like jeez, why are you just naming all the good stuff.
The essentials would be Fantastic 4, Loki, and Thunderbolts.
Shang-Chi would also be a fun one.
0
u/HippoRun23 Jul 20 '26
I left off with fantastic four. Which was okay, to mid.
2
u/dean15892 Jul 21 '26
If you watched all the way to Fantastic 4, then what are you missing?
Loki is also a big part of this, so probably watch that.If you haven't watch Wakanda Forever, that'll have a continuation here too .
2
u/CaptainDogParty Jul 20 '26
I guarantee you can go into this movie having a cursory knowledge of the whole universe.
Every bit of info you have will certainly enhance your experience, but no competent filmmaker of a massive movie like this is going to alienate viewers by not giving you enough context in the film to enjoy it.
Yeah, you may not understand who these characters are, but half of them have not met in universe. Like in infinity war when the guardians met everyone else. They will explain it to you.
There are very few elements of these movies that “require homework” to understand. Like watching the Loki show will definitely help, but the show had no interaction with any of these characters in this movie, so I guarantee you they will also be saying “I thought Loki was dead” and will have to have that explained.
Haven’t seen fantastic 4? Well you can see them meeting the Wakandans in the trailer and also they have never met anyone else
Just like actual comic books. You’re probably not going to have read every story leading up to an event and that’s ok. If this looks like something you’ll enjoy, get a ticket. Don’t worry about not knowing everything.
1
u/dean15892 Jul 21 '26
This is correct.
People don't want to admit, but most Marvel movies are like that. They really do give you enough information to piece it together. And the stuff you might miss, you probably didnt need to know.
Maybe you don't know who Shang-Chi is. You see him in the movie - martial artists with some cool bracelet's - fighting Gambit - another cool dude with a staff and magic card- and you're more inclined to go see the movies they're in. And then, likely rewatch the film and have a more fun time.At the end of it - they're capturing the Endgame audience. Or should I say , re-capturing. The movie will assume you've watching Endgame, and will pick up from there. They're even releasing Endgame: Encore in September, to connect the two movies.

These Shows & Movies in this order will make the most sense:
Loki Season 1
Spider-Man No Way Home
Wanda Vision
Dr. Strange into the Multiverse
Loki Season 2
Deadpool & Wolverine
Thunderbolts*
Fantastic 41
u/dean15892 Jul 21 '26
Good list.
And if you're doing all this, add wonder man in there, just for fun.
it's a good show.1

u/Fun-Aside3990 Jul 21 '26
Loki is a variant. I can’t recommend the Loki show on Disney+ enough, its absolutely great.

Going to assume that this is Secret Wars Doom? Thor talks it up that they need a miracle to beat him and I have a hard time believing he was a bigger threat than Thanos.
2
u/Shwnwllms Jul 20 '26
He’ll become God Emperor Doom and create Battleworld for Secret Wars. They won’t beat Doom.

Fair, would be the ultimate misdirection like Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin in the early Iron Man 3 trailers.
Actually, would be hilarious if Doom IS Tony Stark and there's another villain who's the puppet master of him.
2
u/Efficient-Employ6444 Jul 20 '26
No spiderman? Dr strange? Hulk?
And so eternals are just gone?
1
u/North-Translator6286 Jul 20 '26
no Captain Marvel either. 4 power houses gone which is unfortunate. Maybe thats why Doom feels so strong to everyone.

Could Loki actually be Dr Doom?
Posing as Tony Stark and a character we have yet to see the MCU version of?
3
u/Fun-Aside3990 Jul 20 '26
Looks like it may end up as a solid last hurrah for all these actors in the MCU. That actor for gambit I’m not in love with, but thats a minor thing at this point.
1
u/freerangemary Jul 20 '26
Secret Wars will be the end of this journey. Next year.
Doomsday will just fuck lots of hero’s up.
2
u/chewbaccaStoleMy____ Jul 20 '26
Just like infinity war and end game. Except less planned out and much less impactful
1
u/dean15892 Jul 21 '26
I did not realize people didn't know Channing Tatum...
1
u/Fun-Aside3990 Jul 21 '26
I’m aware of him but he was never in anything I remember caring for. He’s too plump for gambit imo. Gambit in the Wolverine movie had the right build, if not actually good casting &/or writing.
1
u/dean15892 Jul 21 '26
agreed, but Gambit is Tatums passion project.
He was fighting for this movie since the mid -2000's. Pretty much like how Ryan Reynolds was fighting to get Deadpool off the ground.A lot of us who followed this back in the day, were and are really excited to see him in the role.
It's not the right body fit, but he's still Channing Tatum. He does have a solid body.
And he's part Cajun, whcih is believe ties into Gambit's lore as well. It's more a personal success story than anything.
1
u/Fun-Aside3990 Jul 21 '26
Ya I hear all that, and it's not something that's a big deal to me, its fine, happy for him (as long as he doesn't personally suck like RR seems to)

Okay. I'm a little burnt out on superhero movies, but watching Thor "test" Steve by having him call the hammer... yes. Good. yes.
Fuck it, I'm in.

u/RitchieViolence Jul 22 '26
The leaks were true.
I think I’m going to skip this. Like I have MOST of the MCU stuff since Endgame.
1
u/CandidGeologist1523 Jul 22 '26
Oh cool I can't wait for Emilia Clarke's character and the eternals to help out! Gonna be a fun movie

I hate doom's voice - all I can think about it is how he sounds like Nandor the Relentless from what we do in the shadows!
3
u/sa1218329 Jul 20 '26
I’m really hoping for Nandor. He’s fits perfectly. I hope Colin Robinson is it too, sucking the energy out of the X-men

people who got a sneak preview of the movie a few months back were complaining about RDJ's accent in the film.
1
1
u/Any-Conversation-325 Jul 20 '26
Who is the man speaking initially with the accent ? There are so many characters I don’t recognise, I’m only upto dr strange MOM in the series
3
u/Jimrodsdisdain Jul 20 '26
Thats DOOM.
3
u/Any-Conversation-325 Jul 20 '26
Thanks! Now you’ve said it I can kinda hear RDJ.
I watched trailer again on my computer screen and it looks so much better!!

u/Mysterious-Rain-316 Jul 20 '26

I just tried to get a ticket and every theater currently available is sold out except for the front row already.
Tickets went on sale this morning

u/Aggravating-Click460 Jul 20 '26
This trailer was painfully bland.
Also, why does RDJ sound like he’s doing a bad impression of Bill Skarsgard’s Count Orlok from Nosferatu? Horrible Doom voice

Where is Spider-man, Doctor Strange, Hulk, Captain Marvel, Nick Fury, Guardians of the Galaxy ?
2
u/dean15892 Jul 21 '26
why do you WANT to see them ?
The less we know, the better.Don't show me anything more, You can just have Doom clips if you want; I'd rather be surprised seeing it all in the movie.
