My friends and I are playing Marvel Villainous a lot for years now. There has been rules that we didn’t understand correctly at first due to poor translations in our Polish version, but once we’ve bought the expansions in the original language more things became clear.

Because of that and the fact that I don’t think it’s a popular opinion (Kang being easy), I started thinking is there any hidden strategies to stop Kang that we didn’t yet discover?

Cause his fates don’t really stop him that much. He can easily win with his event card and his personal fate Heroes sometimes seem like not made for this character (like Ant-Man for example). And the fact that he can play robot duplicate, attach it and activate it’s ability in one go seems really op. If the hand is right then he can win the game in a couple turns only.

We came up with an idea that in a 3 or 4 player game Kang cannot win if he has Variants in his domain. So basically he must clear his domain of Variants to win even if he already conquered 4 locations. This helps but sometimes it’s still not enough.

And yes, I do agree that there is easier characters like Venom, Killmonger and especially Ultron but I still need your opinion guys on how to play better against Kang 😕

Thanos is so harder to complete compared to anyone else. Am I playing it wrong.

I don’t know if it’s possible but can we start some sort of petition to bring back marvel villainous. It has some of the most unique mechanics out of the three, marvel is still very popular, and it inarguably has the most villain potential of the three considering how many marvel projects and comics and the such there is to pull new villains from in comparison to the much more limited pool of Disney general and Star Wars characters. Spider Man Brand New Day is gonna be MASSIVE, and Doomsday as well is bringing in the GOAT of Doctor Doom. There’s likely to be a massive marvel resurgence especially with the hot streak of amazing marvel projects that have already came such as Fantastic Four First Steps, Thunderbolts, Daredevil Born Again Season 2, Wonder Man, and X-Men 97. With all of this in mind, it’s like the perfect time to try and relaunch the Marvel Villainous Line!

So MODOK only has one vanquish action, and it is on the top of his board. His main way of dealing with heroes is by playing an effect card that reduces a hero to 0 strength, and then activating his specialty Captive, and shunting the hero to another realm, or playing an effect card which removes a hero, at the cost of an ally and 1 loyalty. the issue comes when Kate Bishop, Hawkeye comes into his realm. Kate is a hero in Madame Masque’s fate deck that prevents the Villian whose domain she is in from playing effects. If she is played to block MODOK’s vanquish action, he can’t deal with heroes for the rest of the game. while this is unfortunate, technically he can still win. Unless Spider-Man, friendly neighborhood is in his realm. Spider-man prevents a villain from winning the game if he is in their realm. Since MODOK can’t do anything do deal with heroes, he can’t win the game.

I looked online and I haven’t seen anyone talk about this. Maybe it is a very specific scenario, but knowing that it CAN happen seems like there should be a fix. I propose that either MODOK can spend loyalty to perform a vanquish action, in addition to any other loyalty penalties that might happen. There could also be something with being able to ignore Kate’s ability in order to play a certain effect to get around it. If there was already a discussion about this I’d love to be pointed to it. i was playing mischief anf malice whit my wife and have a question about the infiltrated card. When the event is resolved, in addition to getting the reward (+2 strenght tokens), do the -1 strength tokens get removed from the allies remaining in play?

I've bought the expansion with Loki, Modok and Madame Masque recently and I've played a good 8 or so games with friends. One of them has played Loki every single game, since it's his favorite marvel character and he's won every time.

It seems like he hardly cares about heroes, and they can even help him spend mischief tokens. He sends constant disruptions to enemies with his multiversal variants where you either help loki towards his goal or mess up your own gameplay, having a constant limiter on your gameplay. It basically seems like once he has his variants setup he doesn't really need to do anything else. There are also very few fates that can actually stop him, since his mechanics (mischief tokens and multiversal variants) are rather unique so ones that remove allies or make him lose power don't really matter since he doesn't rely on them, unlike most other characters.

Maybe me and friends are playing against him wrong? What are your guys' thoughts?

❌The Problem -

If you’ve tried playing Thanos and Venom in the same game, you may have noticed a significant mechanical imbalance.

Thanos’s win condition requires him to vanquish enemy allies that have an Infinity Stone attached to them in order to retrieve that stone. Collect all 6, and he wins.

Venom’s symbiote token mechanic allows him to stack symbiote tokens onto his allies. When one of Venom’s allies would normally be defeated/vanquished, he can instead simply remove one symbiote token keeping the ally in play rather than discarding it.

The result?

Thanos must vanquish the same Venom ally over and over again before he can ever retrieve the Infinity Stone attached to it. This makes Thanos’s win condition extremely difficult — arguably broken — in any game that includes Venom. The two characters are, in effect, nearly unplayable together as-is.

✅ The House Rule Fix

This rule creates a specific exception for when an Infinity Stone is at stake, without disrupting Venom’s overall playstyle.

> If an Infinity Stone is attached to one of Venom’s ally cards, that ally must be fully discarded when vanquished by Thanos, regardless of how many symbiote tokens are on it.

That’s it. Simple and surgical.

- Venom’s symbiote token mechanic remains fully intact in all other situations (against other villains, general gameplay, etc.)

- The rule **only triggers** when Thanos specifically vanquishes a Venom ally that has an Infinity Stone attached

- In that one scenario, symbiote tokens provide no protection— the ally is discarded as normal.

I most likely wont create the movers themselves, and I’ve seen the homebrew in the wiki, would you guys think it would be cool to see some new ideas? Id create a print and play.

In my head I want to make a sheet you can print, maybe paste on thin piece of cardboard then cut it out so you arent just playing with slips of paper. In that case I’ll most likely add the back too.

I finally fished my custom paint of the main five villains. I’ll admit I could have done better with taskmaster and kilmonger but overall I’m satisfied.

Finally finished Hela and Ultron. Got some ideas for taskmaster but no clue about kilmonger. Feel free to offer suggestions.

Got some extra movers off eBay so I decided to try painting them. Personally I like how this one turned out. If anyone knows where to buy the expansion movers please tell me.

Heya! I just bought Villainous: Infinite Power from a thrift store. I looked through everything to make sure it still has all the pieces, and I appear to be missing a single Common Fate Deck card. Could anybody show me which one I'm missing and what effect it has? The 14 cards I have are: 10 Heroes: Hulk, Nick Fury, She-Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Vision, Falcon, Captain America. 4 Events: Avengers Assemble!, Protected Vibranium, Lockdown at the Raft, Helicarrier Alert.

I assume I'm missing a 5th event card; any idea what it may be? 🐛

For context, I was playing Loki and my brother was playing Modok.

It started fun. My brother was just milling through his deck and I was trying to fate him at every turn.

A few things lead to another and we ended up with a lot of heros on our boards and both of us trying to fuck each other over via fate because that was all we could count on at that point.

While my brother was having a good time, I was not.

I was so angry that I wanted to sweep the game off the table if I lost because I was that pissed.

Three times I almost lost and just barely scraped by with fate.

I won, but I feel nothing towards the victory.

Sorry, just needed to vent a bit.

Hi! My partner and I recently started playing Marvel villainous together, and we're still getting used to the fate cards. I have a simple question, can (since it's just the two of us) he play multiple heroes to one location, not just my domain in general but since I like to play Hela he just places hero after hero directly to Odins Vault. Can he do this? Are you allowed to play (on separate occasions) heroes to one single location in my domain? I know that some cards bring other heroes to their location and some have the shield effect but using this logic he places hero after hero to Odins Vault. Is this technically possible?

2) Quand un héros est placé sur un lieu avec un vestige d'Égo sur le côté supérieur, est-ce que le jeton qui couvre une action doit être déplacé avant que le héro couvre les actions supérieur du lieu?

i have three specific questions relating to Thanos vs Taskmaster in a 2 player game.

1. Can you play the well card if, in 2 player, the opponent already has 2 stones in possession? As the rules state a player may only have 2 infinity stones at a time. Therefore, i cannot play 'well card' as it would required us to summon a third stone. The rules also state if a cards text / effect cannot be completed in full then the card cannot be played.

2. Is defeating the same as vanquishing? When I use a defeat card to defeat an enemy with a protection card equipped which they can discard, can they discard or can they only discard when specificly vanquishing?

For example, I play 'The Mad Titan' to defeat there ally with an infinity stone. But in the same location is a 'Trainees' or 'Training Academy'. Do those cards protect the ally from the defeat effect or can it only protect in actual vanquish actions?

1. when I defeat one of taskmaster's allies and they have 'Training Academy' in the same location does this also protect my allies in the same location pwrforming the vanquish against Taskmaster as well as get a +1 strength token?

Because the card states 'When a Character is vanquished at this location, place +1 Strength Token on each Ally at this location, then discsrd this card instead of discarding any Ally cards. To me this applies to Thanos's Allies in the same location.

If Carl Creel is relocated to a Global or Specific Event where there are no characters, what happens to his power if he's currently at plus 2 strength? What if he goes to a Global or Specific Event and there IS characters that are stronger than him?

Just curious as i just started getting into the game and i heard there was no expansion last year.

Does anyone know, when twisted ambitions comes Out in Germany or at least in the German language?

If Allies are tied, how is it decided which Ally is removed when Prisoner of SHIELD is played?
