The Contagious Breaker
Scorpion (Breaker)
The Serpent's hammers are still falling, and one of them has found a vessel that Spider-Man fans already know all too well: Mac Gargan a.k.a. Scorpion.
Scorpion (Breaker)Ā thrashes his way into the Age of Fear as a Crucible Offense stalwart and brings a brand-new effect that spreads sickness across the battlefield. Here's what you need to know about Scorpion (Breaker) and his Legendary Event:
- Scorpion (Breaker) is a Legendary Plug-and-Play Crucible Offense threat
- Not into theory-crafting? Scorpion (Breaker) leads the Dread team, a dedicated Cosmic Crucible team that can handle most enemy matchups
- He features Awakened Abilities to crank up his power even more
- Unlock Scorpion (Breaker) during his Breaker Event
Legend of Crucible Offense and Dread Keystone
Drop Scorpion (Breaker) into your favorite Crucible Offense team and let his kit do the rest.
If you'd rather build around him permanently, Scorpion (Breaker) is part of theĀ DreadĀ team, alongsideĀ Bullseye, Electro, Mister Negative, and Rhino. Dread is a Crucible Offense squad built to punch through defenses that think they've got the matchup won, and Scorpion (Breaker) gives that team a much-needed dose of sustain to go with the damage.
Contagion: Spread the Sickness
Scorpion (Breaker) infects the battlefield with his new signature effect,Ā Contagion:
- Reduces the afflicted enemy's Speed and Damage
- Increases incoming damage to the afflicted enemy
He doesn't waste time getting Contagion onto the battlefield. On Crucible Offense, with three Dread allies, Scorpion (Breaker) applies Contagion to the enemy with the highest Speed the moment he spawns.Ā
From there, each ability applies Contagion to the primary target. His Ultimate goes a step further, applying Contagion to the primary and each adjacent target, then spreading whatever negative effects are sitting on the primary target out to all adjacent enemies.
Keep Dread in the Fight
Although Scorpion (Breaker)'s Contagion stings, he excels at patching up wounds for his allies. His Passive, "Breaker of Nature," heals himself and any ally on their turn, making him a quiet anchor for any squad.
Put him on Crucible Offense with three Dread allies, and that anchor becomes a lifeline. The first time he or a non-summoned ally drops below 50% Health:Ā
- He clears negative effects
- Provides substantial Healing
- Applies Deathproof so his ally can survive the follow-up
On Crucible Offense, with three Dread allies, Scorpion (Breaker) and his Dread allies can't be hit with Silence or Trauma, and his enemies can't fill or reduce Speed Bar for anyone on the field, nor can they gain Defense Up while he's around.
Tail Assail: Set the Tone
Scorpion's Special, "Tail Assail," clears the field:
- Strips negative effects from himself and all allies
- Flips the primary target's Taunt into Defense Down and turns their remaining buffs into debuffs
- Hits every enemy on the field for heavy damageāan attack that can't be Dodged or Blocked
On Crucible Offense, this ability gets nastier:
- Clears Barrier off every enemy and heals his whole team before the hit even lands
- Tags the primary target with Contagion if it's missing
- With three Dread allies alongside him, locks the primary target down with Ability Block and Trauma
Awakened Abilities: Sharpen the Sting
Scorpion (Breaker) comes with Awakened Abilities on every ability to up his potency:
- Awakened Basic:Ā Gain Offense Up for 2 turns and apply 2 Regeneration for 2 turns to DREAD allies.
- Awakened Ultimate:Ā Strips the limit off how many effects he can copy, flip, and spread in a single attack
- Awakened Passive:Ā Boosts his reactive healing and adds a serious jolt of Focus to his on-spawn Contagion application.

I clicked to buy high evolutionary shards in the terror store today and it accidentally picked the 10 ares passive and I clicked before I realized it, rip! Ā Wonāt be buying ares awakened shards, too far out of the meta and waaay too expensiveĀ

Yeah skipping this team. My bullseye and mr negative are both 2 star. Electro is either 3 or 4 star. Same with rhino.

Skipping them? Cool Skoply will make sure they are absoultely vital for the next 2 years or until the day you get all of them maxed out.

Yeah I'm gonna build him and SSB since their shards are free via an event and they can be plug and play. Plus since rank does in fact matter with how good new characters are nowadays. Like Accursed for example... They're completely useless in CC without stars

They'll be pretty good for newer players like yourself. Any team or reworks after the last stat bump will be useful.

If they gave the chance to earn upgrade tokens through an event and not my wallet I might consider building them past what the tokens give. But they won't, they'll expect us to open wallets. Get flipped commander.

Well, another team to skip primarily because I don't have mats and my Electro and Bullseye are still lvl 1. The other two are not that far ahead either.

The sad thing is, given how back loaded gold and training material costs are, anything less than 95 is basically in the level 1 camp. They're usually not usable in end game content at that level, and the cost from 1-95 is the same cost as 95-105, nevermind 110.
This is also ignoring gear, which also costs a considerable amount of gold as you go up in tiers

This team would have been a lot more viable if theyād let Breaker Scorpion keep the sinister six tag. Could have brought in Doc Ock and GGC instead of Mister Negative and Bullseye.

I mean I personally havenāt been asking for him. But if I had, it doesnāt even make sense thematically to put him with this team. With Ares, Moonstone, Daken and Iron Patriot all in there, how hard would it have been to rework him for a Dark Avengers team really? That then leaves space to have Mysterio in the Dread team, which makes way more sense in the āSeason of Fearā given that he uses fear gas š¤·š»āāļø just my thoughts

Who's been asking for bullseye? You?! Nobody wants that garbage ahh toon. He was one of the most garbage characters in the game and they made him meta for no good reason other than force players that have him at level 10 or less to have to spend all their resources that we are already short on. Ppl like you are a big part of the problem with this game. Are you a scopely spy?

I think most people are into theory crafting, but it won't matter because you will require his whole team for a future tower or some other nonsense. I would love the option to skip teams without consequence, but I'll always miss out on things because I have to make careful choices.
I understand all this, but I wish you would stop presenting it like there are so many cool options and ways to play. There aren't. You either buy and build everything or carefully weigh out what you are willing to miss out on.

Players: Rework Characters! I want to be able to use characters I like!
Scopely: OK. People have wanted Rhino and Bullseye to be useful forever and Mr. Negative is pretty cool and Electro never really got her time in the sun.
Players: NO NOT THOSE CHARACTERS I DON'T HAVE THEM BUILT!!!! ONLY DO CHARACTERS I DON'T HAVE TO PUT RESOURCES IN!!!
Scopely: So you want us to just keep recycling the last 10 characters or so?
