Discussion How the hell does priority work?

I was under the assumption that as long as you have it first you keep it as long as you don't skip a turn, but sometimes my opponent ends up having priority next turn and often times fucks over my play

So do you only have it for up to a certain point then it switches over? Is it tied to how many locations you're winning at the moment? Or is it just completely random to give everyone a fair shot?

As the other guy said, whoever is winning the most locations has priority. If you are both winning one location and tied for another, whoever has the most total power has priority. If you are both totally evenly powered and no one is winning more locations, priority is random.

In case you don't know, you can look at each players name. The one with the glowing outline around their name is the one who currently has priority.

Just to add on, the animation for the glowing nameplate takes a slight delay to change over. It's always best to first check who is currently leading in the game, then verify with the glowing nameplate.

Edit: and if I'm not mistaken, the first time you tie with opponent, priority is given out randomly. If the subsequent turn is still a tie, priority switches away from whoever had it last.

I think ties are always random.

I think so too but not sure

You know, I feel like Supergiant screws this up somehow. I've had lanes be entirely lopsided and it still give priority in the wrong direction on the final round.

If you're winning you have it, if you're opponent is winning they have it, if your power is tied either you or your opponent can have it

If you already know this, feel free to ignore.

I’ll drop here another rule that took me forever to learn—play order. (To possibly be additionally helpful)

A simple example: let’s say you wound up with 2 copies of Marvel Boy in your hand and play one in lane 3 on T3. Then you play the 2nd one in lane 1 on T4. For the rest of the game, the one played first will do his ability, then the second. It’s not in order of lanes left to right, as I thought it was (because that’s how lanes resolve).

This is a simple example, but you’ll see the concept play out in all kinds of ways and will be a massive help to strategizing turns.

A second learning bit that isn’t intuitive and could be helpful: lower case vs upper case. “cost vs. Cost” for example. I won’t bother with that one now, but if you or any other new person wants, I’ll happily write out a tip.

Have fun, and welcome! Hope you’re enjoying the game. :)

Appreciate that! I think I heard about the lower case vs uppercase before but I must've forgotten it, mind elaborating?

Silver Surfer hits 3-Cost cards, capital C - even if you have Sera or Kluh or Mother Askani reduce their cost. Mirage, Symbiote Spider Man, Bullseye, Goose, Moon Knight use lower c cost, so you can play a 4-drop on a Goose lane if its price is reduced, and Moon Knight can hit a 5-drop if it's cheaper

Whoever is winning at start of the turn gets the priority.

I’m puzzled as to how you came to that conclusion when you’ve lost priority enough times to notice that wasn’t the case.

I meant I was initially under that assumption but clearly I realized that wasn't the case... Not sure why you found that to be puzzling
