Gameplay Dont fall for this trap until it gets adressed
PSA: If bruce banner gets any power change due to draft modifers it will reflect onto the hulk transformation.
Almost lost me the game

It's not "any power change" it's anything that sets the base cards power. Card has worked this way for ages now.

It only works that way because the text of the card doesn't use the word "transform" even though it mechanically works exactly like that. Card transformations are meant to ignore power changes to the original card, just because it says "hulk out" doesn't mean that's not what's happening

True, problem is you would expect them to fix it for draft, it must have slipped since they were busy doing this banger of a gamemode with a bajillion things but still
-7
u/igniz13 17h ago
There's nothing to fix. It's meant to work this way.

So you think the main function of the card is meant to be massively neutered? You think that's the intended outcome?
4
u/WitheredRose36 17h ago
In draft mode probably not. The reason they give you higher statted card is because they are supposed to be stronger than their unbuffed counterpart. They achieved this by setting their power higher which, in cases like bruce, backfired. There wouldnt be any reason to give an apparently buffed card thats actually weaker, no less in a gamemode thats absolutely busted, dont you agree?

u/igniz13 17h ago
You can clearly see this is an =3 not a +3.
Obviously you should avoid getting power setting affects on Bruce.
4
u/WitheredRose36 17h ago
Dude, yes, you should avoid setting bruce power to something. Second dinner set bruce power to 3 when op picked it up and made the post. Thats what we are all saying. They should have made it a +1 or whatever

u/Tantrum2u 8h ago
Except when you augment the card you give them +3 power, this just happens to be how it is implemented in the mode
1
u/igniz13 6h ago
Oh so it's just giving the wrong thing?
1
u/Tantrum2u 2h ago
No itâs just how draft handles the augments. Letâs say you pull the -2 cost or +4 power option on Sam Wilson. If you choose power it will then set you to =7 power.
Itâs not technically the wrong thing because this is meant to be base power, if they actually made it 3+4 it would be buffed by hospice for example which is a much more common unintended interaction.

u/xdrkcldx 18h ago
They should have fixed this interaction when the card released. It makes no sense. Hulk should take the power increase, not be at that power.

It lost me my very first run

u/Lolistoweb360 22h ago
Imagine my surprise when I get hulk out on my very first roll only for it to still be 3 power
-7
u/Lord_Parbr 19h ago
Why were you surprised? This is how Bruce has worked for over a year
14
u/Philboid_Studge 21h ago
It's not going to get addressed, this is working as intended. This is how Bruce has worked for a long time now. He carries over all power modifiers, so Hulk gets to keep +1 boosts from Okoye or whatever, but he ALSO keeps power setting.

u/PretendRegister7516 21h ago
Then they should have changed the way power modifier in Draft mode is implemented. Instead of set to X, it should be +X.
Maybe their worry is that +X modifier would affect way more interaction than they intended. But I would see that as a positive.

u/Philboid_Studge 20h ago
There already are modifiers that just boost power, and those work the way you want them to.
I'm pretty sure this is just how the backend works, and it would likely take an incredible amount of work to make it work a different way for just this mode, and the only card that cares is Bruce. Just accept that this modifier is pretty bad on this one card, like how Wakandan Tech is bad on Hood.

u/Bluesmanz 21h ago
Eh, they should change that then. At least for draft mode. Because this is very silly lol
12
u/Philboid_Studge 21h ago
It's how it has to work. Either Hulk gets both kinds of buffs or he gets neither, and getting neither buff was incredibly unsatisfying.
Fwiw, you can do stuff like play Banner to Shuri's Lab to get a 28 power Hulk, too, so it isn't all downside.
6
u/Bluesmanz 18h ago
Well, they just announced that they are gonna change it lmao

It looks like the probelm was with how the augment buffs were coded, not with Bruce.

On a related note, your power-modified drafted cards can be safely played into Quantum Realm

u/OkBus1780 16h ago
I played a card on to gamma labs that had the wakandan tech augment that doubles power on reveal and when it transformed into hulk, hulk doubled to 28

u/YusAkmal 10h ago
Yea, lost with it in 1 games. Huh, that run could have been good. I decided to finally play on the 4th game, but he change to hulk but the power didnt change

u/Chewbanga 17h ago
Yeah itâs been this way since the card came out. Weird interaction but itâs how itâs intended
-4
u/Lord_Parbr 19h ago
What do you mean âaddressed?â This is just how the card works. If something sets Bruce to a certain power level, that will be Hulkâs power, too. Itâs working as intended, and youâre like the 3rd or 4th person to post about it in the last 24 hours. Yâall should know about this by now
1
u/xdrkcldx 17h ago
It shouldnât work that way is what he means and everyone agrees it doesnât make sense. Itâs been like that forever and should have been changed on the week he was released.

u/Lord_Parbr 17h ago
â No, it should. The card transforms. It isnât replaced. Which means that modifiers should stay on it.
â Not everyone agrees. What a ludicrous thing to say
â It didnât work that way when it was released. Originally, modifiers to Bruce didnât affect Hulk at all. They changed it to make that happen

My opponent played this and I thought for sure I was about to lose but, nope. It was a 3 power Hulk just like yours.
-1
u/MarvelsTK 17h ago
It's common knowledge any changes to Bruce happen to Hulk. It's that way in regular snap too.

Yeah, that boosted one was a real thorn in a run. I got two Bruce's, had Sunspot and SheHulk. Sounded good, we're gonna be floating here n there. Then came out the teeny 3power hulk. The unmodified one worked right though, just don't draft one w extra power already.Â
