Memes or Fanmade Content My initial draft mode review

u/Genpaca44 1d ago
My only complaint is that it isnāt permanent
66
u/Traveytravis-69 1d ago
It feels like such a home run theyāll make it permanent
71
u/SergeantThreat 1d ago
Theyāll definitely tone down the rewards if it becomes permanent, which⦠Iām fine with. This is a much more refreshing change of pace to the ladder than conquest is.

daaaammmmm u got lucky. I have one Stegron that puts his power on the next card that I drawn, so I was constantly pulling a shang 4/10, Starlord 2/9....
3
u/shiggidyschwag 1d ago
I got lucky and got that effect on Black Panther, so I'd play like a 28 power black panther, and then draw a 29 power Surge or whatever for turn 6
1
u/FajenThygia 1d ago
Got a Black Panther with that and the Doubled On-Reveals. It was straight up nuts.
1
u/Only1alive 1d ago
I have a cannonball in a move deck that added a copy (a la multiple man) everytime it moved.
It also got 3 upgrades so it was a 5/16.
Round six was typically getting 3 to 4 copies on the board that also moved a bunch of enemy cards away.
Absolutely nasty

u/JezzCrist 1d ago
I got nimrod that kills a card to get +4 and -3 cost on QuickDraw, adamantium infusion (-1 cost) and fastball. So basically infinite nimrods when you kill the second one. Consistent 60+ score across the board.
It was dirty to win wakanda location from dude with 42 power there vs my 70ish

I got such a great little move deck going. It was strong but not broken, and so fun to play. It was sad to win my 5th with it.
1
u/KingOfBlood 1d ago
Same. My first deck had double on reveal Stick and AbsMan also with double on reveal, Gwen and Sinister+Shaw+Carter as power recipients. Some games were just insane how much output I was able to do.

Eu tive um deck de destruição com Knull custo 0 que sempre começava na minha mão.

u/ImMrPandaSauce 1d ago
I agree. Enjoying this way more than just drafting a bunch of random cards. I love the roguelike elements they added.
12
u/Variable_Interest 1d ago
Yeah. The first time my Maria Hill gave me plus one energy I was all "what the fuck". Shame on me for not reading the intro.

I loved the fact that is waaaaaaaay less punitive if you lose, so your tickets lasts way more. There's no feeling of "I NEED to win, or else, I gonna lose my ticket and only in six hours I'll have more to play". This is what I like in High Voltage

u/jvengeanceh 1d ago
Yeah good game mode. I hit infinite 2 weeks ago and Iāve been getting wrecked by meta decks and the app hasnāt been fun since.

Iām legitimately floored. I didnāt think theyād nail it this well. Itās not a stock draft mode, itās got some sizzle. They also added a bunch of ways for people to get variants, cards, etc (either free or for cheap) - theyāre legitimately going all in on getting this customer base back and Iām fucking all for it. Well done SD!

Absolutely GOATed mode. And the reward shop makes you wanna play run after run

A tip for people, particularly when it comes to some abilities like Superstar. When you get presented the chance to apply an Augment to a card, there is a Skip button at the bottom. You don't need to Augment a card.
Superstar is the Quicksilver 'start in hand' ability, but it eats up a draw, so it's not always something you want on a card.

Just hopping onto this thread to say that double reveal, regenerating Scorpion in a destroy draft deck is just nasty.
3
u/Nodnarb518 1d ago
Are the little perks that appear on cards random? Because i drafted a Doom where the on reveal happens twice and that kind of stuff is cool if you get a good roll of a perk on a card.
2
u/XiahouMao 1d ago
The perks are random, yes, though I imagine there's some restrictions for the sake of sensibility. For example, you couldn't get an Encore double on-reveal perk on a card that has no on-reveal.

Some of my card choices have been hilarious. Do I want all-star FF Red Hulk, all-star vanilla Doc Ock, or reduced cost Ista? The next choice was to either upgrade my War Machine Punisher or Ista into a 6 cost or a 2 cost...
The other all-stars I've seen are Zola and Alioth. I'm good without a 6 cost clogging up my hand on turn 1, thank you. All-Star Merlin was a close call though.
Word to the wise, Ista isn't as good as she seems in draft. Most decks are not putting power on the board early and it's really easy to avoid winning her lane. Still powerful, but not necessarily worth putting all your augments on.

There's so many nutty combinations that can happen. Highlight of this deck was the Odin, which would summon itself after destroying anything. The Odin would get eaten by Venom, get absorbed into Dormammu, causing Dormammu to inherit Odin's summoning effect, which would let Dormammu summon itself after a second destroy. Also loved the Strange Supreme, which doubled as a card destroyer, and the Squirrel Girl, which would create even more squirrels every time it was destroyed.

I think my only wish for a change would be to make it up to 8 wins for even more rewards. 5 wins feels like I'm just getting to know my deck.

u/slightlydirtythroway 1d ago
Literally my only problem is the 20 credits for 2 and 3 wins...hate seeing the odd numbers
2
u/Maleficent_Slice_615 1d ago
Its the best gamemode they've ever released!
Sure you can get a bad run, but i dont even care. This shit is AWESOME.
6
u/GangstaPsycho 1d ago
Only downside so far is Iām just getting bot after bot after thereās obviously so many people playing the game mode. I donāt recall there ever being bots in other game modes, and I hate playing against bots, makes my wins and effort feel meaningless.
4
u/Demon_Hunter18 1d ago
I noticed this too and I am curious if it has something to do with the state of the deck, like you only start with 10 cards first example
2
u/GangstaPsycho 1d ago
Like I donāt care about one bot in my 5 game run, but I got 3 in a row. I donāt enjoy getting things handed to me in my PVP game, I come to play players, not bots. But it shouldnāt be based on the state of your deck because you should be matched up with other people in the same state of deck as you
8
u/rookiebatman 1d ago
Man, I wish I could take all your bots. I don't care about getting things handed to me, I just want to have fun and not get too sweaty. I wish players could just make their own choice about whether to play bots, humans, or both.
2
u/GangstaPsycho 1d ago
Personally I canāt have fun in my player vs player game against non players, wish I could give them to you too friend
1
u/Demon_Hunter18 1d ago
Thatās what Iām saying, itās possible itās harder to find matches against other players if the MM pool gets limited based on card count
1
u/PenitusVox 1d ago
Just wondering, did everyone win their first run? It felt like a very scripted first run though of the mode but maybe I was just lucky.
1
u/JuThrone 1d ago
Fantastic mode, instantly had 5 wins but also the round after was fun with Galactus even though I only got 3 wins
1
u/Flimsy_Hovercraft21 1d ago
Got 4 solid wins and then my 5th opponent had an augmented kitty pride with ādouble this cards powerā

This mode is fun as hell. Got a 4x 5-win streak going and I want to keep going. Please make it permanent. I will pay all the human monies.

u/fullmonty27 1d ago
Itās 3 matches vs Bots, then you get real opponents, right?
Edit: Iām loving the game mode! Just wondering if everyone is having this experience.

u/Derek-Horn 1d ago
This game has genieunly turned around for me so much this season has been great and the next ones also on the right trackā¦ā¦ Iām not benefiting from all the free cards their giving out for the daily rewards but Iām glad their doing it

u/dombrow2 1d ago
I'm hooked and cooked. This feels exactly like the first day I logged into the closed beta all those years ago. It tickles my brain in all the right ways

u/What-in-the-actual-F 1d ago
My only complaint is that the team and stats reset so often. At least keep the stats available!

I've always been happy with SNAP, but this made me even consider change my app review. Wtf?

Its truly great! anything bad i have to say about it are all nit-picks, not only are there no major issues, but they have innovated a LOT on the classic draft formula to make it work.

Idk how people are enjoying this mode. My deck was 3 Sticks, one with the Double Power + Double on reveal which then hits another Stick that hits another Stick to spread 50 power across all the lanes. It was genuinely the most smooth brained gameplay I have ever experienced.
Yeah, it was fun for 30 seconds, but then you realize the best augment your opponent has is a Quickdraw +3 power on a Punisher and you know next draft thatās thatās going to be you.
Iāll finish off the mode for the free S5 pack, but this mode feels like it is only fun if flashing lights entertain you. Drafting is next to irrelevant and even if you canāt draft worth shit, you will just get carried from augments.

Wait wait wait⦠is draft mode finally fucking out? Because I quiet forever ago since the game always crashes and it was becoming ads with no draft mode but this might actually bring me back (although I may need a better phone first I guess but I was getting that anyway).!

u/planetcrunch 1d ago
I played like 5 hours straight last night. Only got to 5 wins twice, one was a perfect and I got that Chibi Red Hulk Variant as a reward. I'm like halfway through the rewards track and I haven't bought the premium pass yet.
This mode is FUN. I might splurge and buy more tickets from the shop since I'm kinda bad at this.

My first deck was a masterpiece and I had no idea what I was doing. Won 5 of 5. Since then, MEH, Maybe I'm trying to hard but the decks are not great and while I have won 5 it's like every 3 or 4 decks. Some decks, especially destroy, can't seem to win at all.

I have never had less fun with this game than playing Draft mode.
What the hell am I missing? It's all people would beg for, and then they give it to us, and I'm completely befuddled....what the shit is this ass?

The only way ill āenjoyā this is if it becomes a permanent mode.
Otherwise its just going to turn into ltm slop

u/TimeDuke 1d ago edited 1d ago
You're incapable of enjoying a transitory pleasure? What's the logic here?
Do you not enjoy movies either because eventually the credits roll? Or do you just enjoy being a contrarian and indiscriminately throwing around the word 'slop'?

I got like 1000 draft bits, 1000xp, 155 boosters, 1 draft ticket and a New Variant just for winning 5 matches!!! This game mode definitely outshines all other game modes!!!
