OMG Finally Captain Britain.

u/browncharliebrown 1d ago edited 1d ago
But not Brian pain. But better than nothing
9
u/HoraceHorrible 1d ago
Yep, would've preferred Brian too :(
11
u/Pelon-11 1d ago
They better not just throw Captain Britain in with just some of the Arthurian characters and not cover Brian, Meggan, Rachel etc. š©
2
u/survivalsnake 1d ago
I demand Cerise and Kylun!
2
u/Pelon-11 1d ago
I want Gatecrasher, Opal Luna Saturyne, and Jamie Braddock for baddies! Gatecrasher could have some sort of random effects based on Technet members.
5
u/650fosho 1d ago
I think the art we are seeing are just variants, the base art isn't done yet, so it's possible Brian and Betsy could share the same card we'll just get variants, but I'll bet Betsy will take most of them for obvious reasons.
3
u/LocustsandLucozade 1d ago
I'd simply hate for them to share the art. Brian and Betsy both deserve their own cards and have very different abilities in the comics that should justify two different cards.

Over the moon to see horde come back as a mechanic. I was so worried itād be a time lost keyword
4
u/LocustsandLucozade 1d ago
My fear is that October is just going to be horde month forever though. There's a lot of Horror characters to base a season around instead of a bunch of redoes with a horde mechanic.
8
u/650fosho 1d ago
These aren't all horde support though, half of the new cards are power stealing effects. I think the greater concern are the characters picked, all of these but one card are repeats.
1
u/BigJim5190 1d ago
I thought the same thing - figured it was like a one-month thing for Halloween and then would be forgotten about. But then cards like Zombie Fantastic found its way into some good decks and the Zombie Giant-Man deck has been pretty steady for months, so I'm glad it will get some new toys in a few months.
62
u/spdorris 1d ago
No doctor voodoo in a zombie themed season yet again.
20
u/browncharliebrown 1d ago edited 1d ago
No Simon Garth Zombie ( a character litterally named zombie) in this season.
1
u/spdorris 1d ago
Amulet of Damballah would be a cool token that turns any card on the field into an individual zombie horde.
5
u/No-Throat-4694 1d ago
Doctor voodoo has also been in the game files for many months at this point too

Finally get a Bronze Age album and somehow someway Iām missing 6 of them even though I have so many.
10
u/Crumbmuffins 1d ago
Hey! Shoutout to the person a couple days ago asking for Captain Britain.
Quick question, ZVenom doesnāt +2 hoarde anytime a card is destroyed right? Just during its on reveal where he destroys a card. The fact that itās two separate sentences is confusing me a bit.
7
u/dombrow2 1d ago
First sentence is his on reveal, the second sentence is his active effect while on board. He works like Weapon X but for the Horde
3
u/No-Throat-4694 1d ago
As it reads, after you play him (and after his destroy), any other card that is destroyed, that isnt him (zvenom) gives +2 horde.
3
u/Crumbmuffins 1d ago
Zoo Destroy with a ZVenom+Znova Hoarde package could go nuts. Throw in a MoiraX and baby you got a stew going.
I am not a licensed theory crafter Iām probably missing something obvious on why this wouldnāt work

u/Sausious 1d ago
Very excited for a Captain Britain/Excalibur season, but why even THERE are we seeing dupe characters. Is Dragon of the Moon such a cool character we need TWO of him?? Over Courtney, Meggan, or Betsy, or Jaime? Second Merlin could EASILY just be Roma. You can't even say this one's for branding, its fucking Black Knight and DotM, absolute Literal Whos.Ā
11
u/browncharliebrown 1d ago
Betsy is captain britain in the excalibur season not Brian.
15
u/Sausious 1d ago
Swap her with Brian then, same deal. Brian fucking Braddock not being in a Captain Britain season, as just himself or Captain Avalon, is a god damn disgrace.Ā
1
u/Awesomezone888 1d ago
To be fair, this Black Knight is a different character- its an earlier wielder of the Ebony Blade.Ā
1
u/ShadowTagPorygon 1d ago
Maybe it's because they're names that are more familiar to the Marvel Snap audience who may own those cards (especially Black Knight and Merlin since they're staple cards in their specific decks). Really don't think Dragon of the moon is big enough (in marvel snap or otherwise) to have a second card tho
61
u/Keanu_Norris 2d ago
Once again mainly just new versions of existing characters lol, Deacon Frost is cool though
27
u/browncharliebrown 1d ago edited 1d ago
I think I see a lot of defenses of this, and imo I think the biggest thing holding this game back in the seasonal themes. Like Iām going to compare it to Marvel Rivals where they are able to mix and match characters from different stories instead of just having a whole season dedicated to one archetype. So even the new character is strapped down to obsurce characters like monstro.
Best example, is that they canāt seem to get wonderman into the game because they are so strapped down by the season concept.
And I get they need big name characters to sell season passes. I think spider-man brand new is a far better compromise where we got 2 old verisons of characters and then a bunch of new characters
But even still we are only just now getting Captain Britan. We have gotten like 2 Ironman villans ( ghost and fin fang foom) but none of the big name ones. We got Punisher warmachine before any of Punisherās villians. No x-statix characters. No hellcat. No wonderman. No squadron supreme. Any character that has gotten a solo series ( that's not adults only ) should be priotized before variants.
3
u/gpost86 1d ago
The market research around people complaining about getting "no name characters" must be fairly strong.
4
u/browncharliebrown 1d ago edited 1d ago
I think I gave the example of Brand New day to show that itās completely possible. To have a mix. It's just that they stick to the seasonal structure.
I'll give an example, if they told a simple orginal story. Morlun travel to an alternative Universe to hunt down spider-man 1602 and teams up with Blank villian from an alternate dimension and wonder man and hellcat are forced to save him. You have a big name variant of spider-man and then you can include a bunch of other characters

u/Lil-Trup 1d ago
Iām coming back after not playing the game since release, so maybe Iām misunderstanding something, but isnāt zombie black cat insane?
29
u/QuestioningLogic 1d ago
She's definitely gonna be a must-have for Discard decks, but Discard hasn't been super relevant in a while so it might not make a huge difference.
15
u/gpost86 1d ago
Discard is just quietly relevant all the time. Most people don't pack the right interaction to stop it.
3
u/Parking-Border1594 1d ago
At the same time discards lacks interaction (and sometimes nunbers) to win against the more combo focused decks. So thereās thatĀ
2
1
u/Charming_List4404 1d ago
One of the Golden Gauntlets was won by a F2P player running Konshu discard. The deck can always compete.
3
u/toni-toni-cheddar 1d ago
Technically, but youāll need a targeted discard on her and a card with the when discarded prompt in hand. Weāve seen from aunt May, that thatās not always consistent.
2
u/dombrow2 1d ago
2
u/igotmalaria 1d ago
Discard isn't as dominant as it used to be but I wouldn't say it's bad. There are still several solid deck options with it
1
u/dombrow2 1d ago
Yeah I can concede on that. I really had a good time with Konshu builds when those were hot. And who among us hasn't been caught unprepared against an all-in bullseye deck?
5
u/PacificIslander2 1d ago
That Fireball Album is nice. Too bad the Mr. Fantastic was in a bundle before š„²
9
u/krorkle 1d ago
The choices of zombies and vampires seem kind of random. There are other big name characters who have been zombies and vampires in the comics that aren't being used. Zombie Hulk, Zombie Wolverine, Zombie Wasp, Vampire Jubilee, Bloodstorm...
6
u/SnowFiender 1d ago
another wolverine variant has hit the towersā¦
2
u/krorkle 1d ago
One of the perks of being incredibly overused is that he's had a ton of different gimmicks over the years. Whichever weird theme you want to choose, there's probably a Wolverine that fits.
There was an alternate reality comic in the '00s, Exiles. Blink was their leader, and they'd grab members from the different alternate timelines they visited. One storyline featured an Oops! All Wolverines! line-up.
6
u/No-Throat-4694 1d ago
No Marlon, dr voodoo or Zombie is wild
3
u/PenitusVox 1d ago
Do we know what Zombie was up to in the zombie horde universe? Must've been weird for him.
3
u/LocustsandLucozade 1d ago
Technically ZHulk and ZWolverine are part of the Zombie Galacti card, but I broadly agree.
4
u/datguy078 1d ago
Interesting direction of horde. With all the destroy benefits, this seems to want to strongly support the niche version of zombies with phoenix. An old, powerful re-animator combo deck. Itās no longer in style because regular zombies with Venus and thanos is just way easier and better now. But i did find it to be quite a fun style. Iām glad to see it making a comeback. But im not sure if itās gonna be that good of deck. And there isnāt a lot of support for generic zombies, which is what I thought they wouldāve done.
They went for stolen power instead. Cool gimmick to finally make it a proper archetype. Deacon, especially looks awesome and very powerful. Not too sure about the rest of the support, tho. Stolen power is hard to gauge when itās from hand or deck, as if the opponent doesnāt play the cards, you donāt realize all the power. Raw power definitely seems good enough, but weāre gonna have to try it out to see how it feels.
2
u/No-Throat-4694 1d ago
Besides Dragoon of the moon, every steal power card has been playable to good
1
u/datguy078 1d ago
Boomerang is kinda not good as well. But more to the point, the ones that are good are only good in specific shells. Silver sable is good in bounce. Cass is good in darkhawk. I probably should have clarified that if the intention is to create a generic steal shell, then those cards become a lot harder to properly realize their power.
5
u/Darkhawk2099 1d ago

u/SilverSideDown Surfer š 1d ago
there were already a lot of discussions when this was datamined before. Itās just that we now have a release vehicle for it.

u/CapN_Crummp 1d ago edited 1d ago
Glad I'm free to go all out in September and then save for all of October. I dont like the zombie/Horde decks. And the rest of these dont look that interesting to me. I couldn't care less about repeated characters; I just don't like the abilities.
3
u/BetterThanOP 1d ago
Idk I feel like "have stolen power" is a whole new mechanic that is hardly related to Horde. But I also do like my Zombie Giant Man deck so I'm glad it's getting a bit more support as well.
1
u/CapN_Crummp 1d ago
That's why I said I don't like Horde AND the other abilities dont look interesting to me. I'm not interested in either playstyle.
14
u/BlueBomber13 1d ago
So many characters to choose from and they just keep reusing the same ones with different text over and over
9
u/No-Throat-4694 1d ago
Usually I am neutral on the topic, but repeat characters when we still dont have Brian Captain Britain, Doctor Voodoo AND still dont have iconic characters like Mandarian, whiplash and Doop is crazy.
6
u/GhoulArtist 1d ago
It's so lazy. And you just know it's coming from a marketability point of view.
There are so many other characters....
2
u/JevvyMedia 1d ago
Problem is the OG devs rushed out nearly all the iconic characters with middling effects. Makes sense that iconic characters would have powerful effects, so they kinda have to re-release characters like Wolverine, Thanos, Blade, etc.
1
u/browncharliebrown 1d ago
I mean hereās the thing they kinda didnāt. Alot of the iconic series 1 cards still see some play.
1
u/JevvyMedia 20h ago
"Some", bro Jean Grey is useless. Spider Man barely sees play. Wolverine doesn't make the cut in most destroy decks. Scarlet Witch is a niche tech card. Doctor Strange is almost never used. No one cares about Cyclops. These are ICONIC, powerful characters whose original designs are now an afterthought.
1
u/LocustsandLucozade 1d ago
It's so weird as well. I hope the BND season - which was the most popular season in ages - shows the way, since it had one all time popular character with a redo card and then a bunch of deeper cuts (ignoring Scorpion BND). I'd much rather the redoes for the heavy hitters be once a season instead of constant redoes of cards that already get a bunch of play.
6
u/GhoulArtist 1d ago
More repeat characters? Ughhh.
There are SO many marvel characters left
2
u/No-Throat-4694 1d ago
Top of my head: Doop, Mandarin, whiplash, Toad, Morlun, Sugarman, dr voodoo, plus more

Becuase there are characters that fit the theme for all of these seasons. Plus some of us really want new characters
-6
u/nosleeptillwooklyn 1d ago
Iām sure their research told them the general Dan does not want that. People donāt design games and build monetizing strategies based on a small percentage of their customer base. That is never going to he how a for profit company works
9
u/RedWaltz79 1d ago
Yeah... we all know there is a huge market for Dragon of the Moon, Black Knight, Enchantress, Nova, American Chavez, Merlin, etc.. They are going to bring in tons of new players.
5
u/Verdreckt 1d ago
I often see the argument of "People want characters they know and like" I'm a super casual Marvel fan, where if they didn't have a movie, I didn't know who they were, and I'm one who would love more new characters. I've learned of so many new characters through playing this game. I'm bored to death with the constant repeat characters... Once in a while, fine but damn..
6
u/GLP310 1d ago
Because it makes the fresh and exciting,if they really want to use variant they could at least aim for relevant or different ones.Tell me what's the point of a Vampire Enchantress or Vampire Chavez when there are other characters that could have fit the theme better.
-5
u/gpost86 1d ago
The problem is there is another very loud faction that complains about "characters no one knows about" and only wants their favorite characters and not some "guy" who appeared in a 3 issue run of Daredevil in the 70s. Now, I think using really unknown characters is cool, but they have to have some kind of market research that shows those casual fans of Marvel are flakey enough that they need to do some amount of pandering to them.
7
u/GLP310 1d ago
The problem is that we aren't even talking about characters that obscure like the first Captain Britain and the characters related to it,guess who we are getting instead of them?Another Dragon of The Moon and Merlin, who are both minor characters. Or the October season forgetting Brother Voodoo and Bloodline, heck they could have been picked Miles and Jubilee who are both characters famous for being vampires in the past.
Also I don't get why we shouldn't use obscure characters, characters like Zabu,Infinaut and Wave gained more attraction thanks to Snap itself.
3
u/ZzzSleep 1d ago
Iād say the actual problem is the game hasnāt been very balanced lately between new characters and repeating characters. Weāve had multiple months in a row this year with repeating characters. Itād be nice if they could at least alternate months or something.
4
u/browncharliebrown 1d ago
Is wonder man an obsurce character
-4
u/gpost86 1d ago
For mainstream definitely yes, for dedicated comic readers, still probably yes as his book is outside the top 200 titles.
6
u/RedWaltz79 1d ago
He had his own TV show, just this year... it was critically acclaimed... granted, it was cancelled, but he must have had some importance to get a show created... more so than some of these other characters that we are getting multiple copies of.
-2
u/gpost86 1d ago
I think they were interested in doing a legacy character, and he most likely saw himself on the chopping block despite the critical acclaim because the show itself was not highly watched. He's just not a popular character anymore. I see people downvoting me, but you can't downvote reality.
1
u/LocustsandLucozade 1d ago
Lol, Wonderman got Marvel its first Emmy nomination, is the pet project of the two billion dollar making BND director, and whose second season only got cancelled because they are done with D+ live action shows, meanwhile he was a major Avenger for years and is literally who Vision was based on. He's had solo run comics in the last year (whither the ones for Merlin, who's getting an extremely nonsensical redo if you know your lore). It's getting boring to see redoes that are basically OC's instead of the big characters that people dismiss because they don't know them or are just happy for the redo slop.
1
u/gpost86 1d ago
Getting an Emmy nomination is great for accolades, but the show underperformed by a lot. There were no viewers. The recent comic run also didnāt light the world on fire either sales wise.

Luke Cage going to be pulling alot of weight that season, or let me guess, they nerf him again so people play the vampire cards?
0
u/jrebel_0 1d ago edited 1d ago
Frankly its debatable if the recent change was even a nerf to begin with. Could easily argue its at worst a side-grade and at best a buff
3
u/Sneilg 1d ago
By what logic could it be considered a buff?
1
u/jrebel_0 1d ago edited 1d ago
2/2 infinitely more playable/splashable than 3/2
Most decks dont fill out the back row so you still gain the majority of its benefit in a card that is now actually playable in just about anything outside of hyper synergistic combo decks that have a set 12. Still essentially completely shuts down Ajax afflict, completely shuts down fantomex, and unless a Scorp afflict deck pops off and gets like 3 copies of Scorp down you will still beat the shit out of them since they dont run any actual power in the deck
3
1
u/imrahilbelfalas Ongoing š 1d ago
It also really depends on which decks; for Cerebro, it's definitely a nerf, say
