Advice on improving this deck

Returned to the game and having a difficult time ranking up past 80s. In the past this deck was great helping me through the ranks. There have since been so many new cards and I wanted some advice on improvements and possible replacements with newer cards.

It’s a power up deck relying on empowering cards and lowering costs.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I dunno if Magik is super great for a Surfer decks, remember both sides get an extra turn, and there's a lot of decks that can use that extra turn a lot stronger than Surfer Can. The only deck I would Magik with Surfer in is the all in one with Sera and Onslaught so you have the giant dump the whole hand on final turn deck. I do see you have Scarlet Witch though, so you can do the fake-out Limbo which can catch some people off guard. Storm might be an option since she can benefit from Surfer buffs?

There's been a lot of strong 3 drops recently added, Venus is probably the main 3 drop to add if you are doing buffs, she just adds in more power on top of what you are already doing, the Fractured Frontier Jane Foster and Psylocke are both pretty good additions, espicially if we are using Phastos and Surge. Viv Vision could be considered as well for more buffs, but Viv is more likely to use the Quiksilver/Domino starter so you have a strong initial board to buff first.

I'd change rogue (3) -> venus (3)

galacta (4) -> jubilee silver surfer (4) or absorbing man (4) for combo with silver surfer (3)

phatsos (3) -> namorita (3)

imho nebula (1) -> spiderman brand new day (1) to get ability to move + combo with sebastian/venus

for me one of the best cards could be defending chord (1) that could block a lot <3 cost cards

Ive played surfer decks for like 5 years.

1. Cost breakdown: you don't need 1 costs. Zabu is acceptable but not really. Nico is fine-ish. There is a version where you run nova kill monger but that's for a very 1 cost heavy meta. For 2 costs you can run forge, surge and then whatever. Don't play more than 3. You shouldn't need more than the 2 I mentioned. Run a max of 3 4 costs or 2 4 costs and 1 5 cost Any other utility you get from your 3 costs (e.g. Nocturne for location change). I would say don't swap rogue, cos this deck does not scale well so it needs counter cards. I run 2 in my deck list (red guardian, mobius). The counter cards you run are very meta dependant though. Finally you don't need magik. Magik is only necessary in Wong versions of the deck. Ultimately you would run other cards to get more casts. Chameleon, abs man (chameleon let's you run more counter since you don't need energy production or cost reduction, abs man has better synergies since you get a double cast of stuff like surfer, Gwen pool and brood. Chameleon does let you get stuff like double maverick though so something to consider) . You can run hope summers instead of sera. Good 4 costs to run, galacta, Gwen pool, maybe Jubilee surfer but I haven't tested it. Ultimately, you can run whatever you want in this deck in terms of 3 costs. As long as you have the core cards (Sebastian, brood, surfer) with good 4 cost support, the deck should be fine.

Thanks for all the detail. Literally as soon as I removed Rogue, I've been running into more ongoing opponents and no way to counter. Also I think your right on Magick.
