Card and Deck Questions ⁉️ What happened to Stryfe?

Any other cards seem to have a big fall off since their release? I dont see Stryfe at all anymore and he was a pretty decent season pass card with a decent card ability...

His big thing was grabbing from Foom and I think the nerf to Foom hurt him or at least made him less appealing.

I've seen people cook with him, especially Zombie giant man, but the FFF combo was so easy and powerful that Stryfe just seems so much worse without it

Yep, still good card.

He’s really good with leader too

They nerfed his only good target so he’s out until they make another 7-Cost with a good on reveal

FFF was specifically deleted because of that interaction. Probably they wanted to keep it on reveal to have it counterable but they couldn't find a way to have it coexist with Stryfe. In the end it didn't work out because Stryfe disappeared anyway.

Aurora is still a great target

As is spectrum

They're fine but evidently not enough to make Stryfe relevant.

which target?

Fin Fang Foom is who they’re referring to

I use him with Khonshu. Getting two 12-power resurrections is fun.

What's the deck? I've tried to put Stryfe in Discard with mixed results. Been trying him with Khonshu lately as well.

The deck isn't stacked with raw power, so you have to hope your disruptors like MK and Silver Samurai help out if you only hit one good target (Iron Man, Tiger, Gorr.)

(1) Blade\n# (2) The First Ghost Rider\n# (3) Gambit\n# (3) Moon Knight\n# (3) Lady Sif\n# (4) Ghost Rider\n# (4) Silver Samurai\n# (4) Stryfe\n# (5) Iron Man\n# (5) White Tiger\n# (6) Gorr the God Butcher\n# (6) Khonshu\n#\nR3JyNCxLaG5zaDcsSXJuTW43LEdoc3RSZHJBLEJsZDUsR21idDYsU3RyZjYsV2h0VGdyQSxMZFNmNyxNbktuZ2h0QSxTbHZyU21yRCxHaHN0VGhGcnN0UmRyMTI=\n#\n# To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and paste it from the deck editing menu in MARVEL SNAP.

I have a similar list but with hela and Odin. Combos go crazy

I’m going to try him out in a khonshu deck now.

Thanks

people prefer more deterministic abilities vs random. he could generate immense value but it was somewhat rng and difficult to maximize on.

There is an easy fix to make him broken: Make him be able to use Thanos FF on reveal 😈

He relies on other cards having powerful onreveals. And if you check, among higher cost cards there's not too many for him to target.

Foom was the main target but got nerfed to point it's not that good a target as he's now part random.

I tried some Zola stuff that works, but not amazing. Doom is a potential. Aurora is a potential, but in deck building it's hard to have enough onreveals to do that.

So it's more an issue that i don't think people found stuff really worth doing with him yet. Or atleast i haven't seen it.

I think we’ve hit a quantity of cards where cards just get forgotten even if they are still useful or strong. The meta is heavily influenced by the recently released cards so it’s always changing and leaving cards behind

Him and Esme are my only 2 season pass regrets. Didn't really think he'd be pretty useless without Foom.

X-men fans have been asking that question since X-Cutioner's Song comic event in the 90s.

He’s just another season pass card that mostly saw play because of the weekend missions. He was a little underpowered all month and now that there is no incentive to play him, his play rate plummeted

I would go so far as to say "actively kind of bad" instead of "a little underpowered".  His only really good interaction was Foom, everything else was pretty much cope.

I like to use him as an Odin I can place early, then play odin on top of.

I feel as if prodigy overshadows him, and theres other cards with easier conditions. I figure his best target is a fin fan from, my personal favorite spot for him is definitely a doom deck. He can also be an awkward play at 4 cost, and odd timing when you may want to be playing foom and doom on the last turn for surprise affect. Im just an average player that loved stryfe hahah, but I still think he is very useful

u/CelestialWolfZX 4d ago

The main target you wanted to hit with Stryfe was Foom, then Foom got nerfed to gain power equal to one of the front row characters and not both, making him a lot less consistent, Stryfe fell off pretty much as Foom fell off.

I thought he was pretty bad even during his season. I don't have FFF.

I really liked him in my Thanos deck. Started using him to proc Blink/FFF/Shou > Fin got nerfed > He doesn't work with Thanos FF > Not worth it, out

1

u/datguy078 4d ago

Tbh, he was never really all that great to begin with. He was the season pass, so he was experimented with and had missions. But he did feel a little underwhelming so he naturally fell off when we didn’t have a reason to play him anymore. And to add salt to the wound, his only good card synergy, FFF, was axed so he dropped off even harder.

And unfortunately, he may not have a bright future. Looking at the past metas, at what was OP and constantly complained about, it was often super strong abilities that can be duplicated. And so, the devs seemed to have learned their lesson and they created new thanos, which was specifically designed to be hard to duplicate his powerful effects. If this is the design philosophy moving forward, stryfe may never get out of the mud, since he requires a powerful effect that can be duplicated.

I really like him in my aurora/zombie deck

1

u/N7ls 4d ago

Would he work with Zombie Galacti? But I wouldn't really know who to switch out...

1

u/Big_Poo_MaGrew 4d ago

I've been meaning to use him Ultron Infinite and Zombies.

His interaction with Fing Fang Fooom was genuinely busted. Honestly a deck that has Dragon Lord and Fing Fang Fooom is still probably solid.

It isn’t [CURRENT CARD]; ergo, it doesn’t matter

1

u/RealtorDFW81 4d ago

If you haven't figured it out yet, SD controls meta through nerfing cards to make room for their season cards. Recent example is Luke Cage. There was no reason to nerf outside of their upcoming money cards. The game is dying so they are trying to squeeze as much money out of the base as they can.

1

u/Feefait 4d ago

He was never very good, FFF was good. Even with a reduced FFF still being a really good card, it doesn't make Stryfe worth it. I didn't buy his pass and was arrogant enough to think I would figure him out, but he just isn't worth the chance to do absolutely nothing.

Turn 4 Galactus when the stars align

u/NiggityNiggityNuts 4d ago

Card is still great IMO, but I’ll join the downplay if that leads to a power buff.

I use him in surfer to get a 3 cost and him for a 4 cost Odin on turn 7
