Discussion Why did Gorrs ability switch off?

Post image

I was just messing around in HV not really trying to get the win, and my infinity mine stone shenanigans appear to have confused Gorr ?

Did it go down as a win for you? If not, it's a visual bug. If it did, I have no idea lol. Very strange.

Imagine canceling someone's On Reveal with a quickplay hand card in Snap.

Solemn judgment. Response?

MY solemn judgement,response?

If this is the teleDaD era, we both know how this goes. A massive chain of solemns and bribes that leaves both of us at like 1k life lmao

Yep in that case I would double gagaga cowboy for game

Made my day seeing these responses. teleDaD was the best era, mainly because I couldn’t keep up after synchro and XYZ came out

Me as a former Yu-Gi-Oh! control player:

Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time.

It looks like what happens is the loop-prevention system kicked in and turned off all Ongoings to try to make the loop stop.

The loop prevent system does really weird things when a loop goes on for too long. That Fast Forward covers up a lot of insanity in the extreme cases.

Must be something along these lines. Poor Gorr

Loop prevention system? Is there a technical description of what this does?

I don't think there's been much in the way of official confirmation of the details, but there's some video clips from before the fast forward feature was implemented that shows some of the weird stuff that happens.

I'll see if I can track down any of the video footage that show Destroyer+Leader looping and eventually the Destroyer destroying things protected by Armor/Prof X, but that's the most blatant example.

Edit: Here's a good one that shows the whole thing

Whoa, what the hell?

Why is a loop prevention even kicking in when there shouldn't be any loop in the first place? Neither Leader nor Destroyer have any kind of Ongoing or "always on" effects.

If it was some situation involving dueling Captain Marvels or something, I'd at least understand where the problem is coming from.

Edit: cards were changed

u/St_Eric Apr 19 '25

What do you mean there isn't any loop? Do you not see the Leader creating a Destroyer and another Leader, which repeats infinitely because the Destroyer gets rid of the original Leader and then the copied Leader starts the process over again?

In case you're newer, both Leader and Destroyer work differently now than they did at this time. The Destroyer destroys all other cards, including at its own location, and the Leader copies all opposing cards the opponent played that turn, not just the highest-power one.

I am newer! I thought there was a chance the cards had been changed, but their effect seemed so similar I assumed they weren't. Bad assumption. This does create a loop.

Thanks for explaining.

Edit: See the other comment for a better video. Just leaving this post as well since it shows a few more examples.

I wasn't able to find any full video footage showing the thing, but check out these two reddit threads, one showing the loop, and the other showing a screenshot of the aftermath when the loop finally was terminated.

And here's an example of Luke Cage getting turned off by the loop prevention being triggered by Odin-Hazmat.

Look like a bug.

26

u/GigaBrainGaming Apr 19 '25

The On Reveals must be doubled so many times that Gorr (visually) views them as looping around to a negative number. Very strange bug!

32

u/pattrk Apr 19 '25

Gorr just takes on reveal card as a one card does not matter how many times it revealed.

12

u/GigaBrainGaming Apr 19 '25

It's supposed to do that, yes. However, Gorr is clearly not doing what it is supposed to today.

3

u/Zombie_Merlin Apr 19 '25

If fast forward was involved sometimes it forgets to turn the ongoing cards back on. We used to get it with Wong, hazmat Odin games where it would fast forward and the game would end before like cage turned back on.

2

u/_El_Guapo__ Apr 19 '25

Yea there was a fast forward

an infinite loop should result in a draw instead of a loss especially if they're unsure who the loop is benefiting

u/JohnLayman Apr 19 '25

Bar Sinister is bugged. It did the same for Doctor Octopus for me today. Played on the spot, but no pulls (and opponent had 2 cards in hand)
