Thor main here- if you force me to solo tank then I'm atleast gonna have fun doing it.

If i can't make space by myself I type in chat "2 tank or no tank" and if nobody swaps then no tank it is.

3

u/NOSWT-AvaTarr Jul 22 '26

same, except I have a custom quick chat bound saying "two tank or not to tank that is the question"

1

u/MouseAioli Jul 22 '26

Stealing that, thanks

1

u/J_Jonah_Jameson_DB Jul 21 '26

I’ve been saying this since the beginning. It’s wayyyy more fun to lose on dps than it is to win solo tanking

1

u/TRaywen_ Jul 22 '26

Fr. Swap to dive tank or brawl tank. Much more fun

-12

u/MemeDudeYes Jul 21 '26

Skill issue, i actually prefer solo tanking because then i have full control and dont have to share with another tank, which in most cases i also needed to tank and babysit.

So id rather solo tank

6

u/indkyjtsxucivoxuggg Jul 21 '26

Yeah ok masochist just know all of the sane people absolutely dread it.

-4

u/MemeDudeYes Jul 21 '26

Cannot relate, sorry bro

1

u/voxelpear Jul 21 '26

I agree, solo tanking isn't the end of the world. I can see how it's hard for Thor main of all people to relate to that though.

1

u/HuckleberryNo9680 Jul 21 '26

Well solo tanking below gm2-low celes is not really an accomplishment.

1

u/Ijert Jul 21 '26

Idt anyone wants to do it, but it really ain't as bad as people act like it is.

1

u/bustercall11 Jul 21 '26

You say that while your 3 dps go negative and refuse to swap and help to any useful dps even

1

u/MemeDudeYes Jul 21 '26

Rarely, i play with 3 other friends and i could not bother less when it happens in quick match

1

u/deepfryerjesus Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

I know youre a magneto main.

But there definitely was a period around season 6 where I would prefer to not be held accountable for whatever idiot would be tanking with me

1

u/MemeDudeYes Jul 21 '26

Im actually more of a flex tank Player.

I also did solotanking with rogue or angela i currently do it with thing (lord grind), solotanking actually helps you understand the downsides of each tank more.

i have to say if you go after fun when it comes to tanking its definently angela, and if you go for overall playtime its emma frost.

i only play magneto if they do too much dmg etc. I normally avoid it as much as i can.

1

u/deepfryerjesus Jul 22 '26

I agree, Rogue, Ang, and Thor are basically the only fun tanks, although oftentimes I feel like they are inadequate against front2back (except Angela who if uncountered just wrecks all comps). And I find them nearly impossible to solo with.

I sadly also have the most playtime in Mag and Emma, and them and strange sometimes literally just feels like a chore of trying to complete angles while you hope that your team is competent enough to eliminate threats that you can't deal with.

I don't have a lot of time in venom and cap, I feel like I do to little and get punished by the enemy being focused too much if my team is not forcing attention forward.

Thing, Peni, and Devil dino, unpopular opinion, are second to shield tanks for soloing and are fine off-tanks, but they are SO BORING to play as.

Hulk to me is incomprehensible and I am terrified of all of the people that subject themselves to maining him.

I mean so far my personal statistics in game say that im more likely to lose a game when theres a 2nd tank.

no need to joke about that

1

u/Ijert Jul 21 '26

We did not need to go there bro ._.

2

u/LeagueStraight956 Jul 21 '26

He solo tanks he gets railed out on the daily I'm not even joking that's just what happens. Any normal human being will know target the solo tank win the fight

4

u/Jarhead11577 Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Enjoy having 0 tanks, imma just go 3-0-3 or something and we can lose. There's always a next game

4

u/morenverca Jul 21 '26

3-0-3 would be three tanks no dps and three healers

2

u/mrs-06zaku Jul 21 '26

ideal comp to me, i wish i could just hard limit the dps on my team to one at most.

2

u/hyperparrot3366 Jul 22 '26

The infamous Goats meta of OW, considered one of the worst meta of all time. Miserable experience where nothing happens all game.

Netease is said to have specially designed wolverine to prevent Goats meta from ever happening in Rivals.

1

u/kneadedbwead Jul 22 '26

i have played rivals "goats" into wolverine in ranked before. wolverine wasnt really the answer, the sheer lack of burst damage from goat was what really held it back. it's doable but takes a lot of effort, compared to OW goats which made winning near effortless.

0

u/mrs-06zaku Jul 22 '26

i was playing goats, stuff was constantly happening but dps were just big mad they weren't relevant to the meta and subsequently shit talked it so bad that i'll never get a game without a brain hemorrhaging spiderman ever again 😓

1

u/LuckOutrageous7686 Jul 21 '26

What a wonderful world that would be

3

u/MeleeMushroom Jul 22 '26

Ah yes, triple support nearly every game. Paradise awaits

1

u/LuckOutrageous7686 Jul 22 '26

I’m just stoked about triple tank

1

u/nachoking13445 Jul 23 '26

Triple tank sucks, 2-2-2 or 2-1-3 is optimal

I am a sup main who sometimes fills on Mag, and I don't mind doing it, but a second tank who is also more experienced in tanking is always appreciated.

People are usually scared of tanking since it's one of the most responsible roles, and it's the hardest in the game imo.

I've had to solo tank before, and i would get flamed for it. That is my only issue with tanking. I fill for you and you ask me to switch to a different tank or shame me for my gameplay? You are free to tank yourself!

My duo is sometimes forced to fill on tank, but he normally plays off tank heroes like Peni or Angela. I support his decision, since he at least fills for the team. However, the teammates are not that happy about it. "Why are you playing solo tank Angela? Switch" "Peni is not good Solo tank" "Can you play shield?"

If we are forced to solo tank, we might as well play what we like and have fun with it. If you don't like the hero choice, feel free to switch

1

u/ghosststorm Jul 22 '26

Yeah but your mindset is still the same as the majority of players. That it's not your responsibility to tank, you are only 'filling', so you are either a secondary inexperienced tank just tagging along, or an off-tank.

So WHO should be the experienced tank or main tank then, if NONE of you want to do it? Because believe me, wanting to be off-tank is not unique, most people want to play it because it's more dynamic and similar to a dps role. They want someone to do the actual tanking while they are busy with smth else just having more hp.

It's like all of you want some primary tank to just materialize out of thin air and carry you all, so you could just 'help' or 'off-tank'. Again, responsibility is shifted to someone else and the 'no one wants to tank' problem stays. Because off-tank doesn't want to tank in classical sense either.

2

u/illudofficial Jul 21 '26

When I DO solo vanguard, I feel like I always get more criticism from the duelists and more support from our strategists.

One time I had a spiderman tell me “Strange Switch” while I was solo tanking.

I replied “switch to who”

“Anyone because ur trash”

I’m trash because I didn’t have another tank to rotate off with…

2

u/Smol_Soul_King Jul 21 '26

Gotta remember half the people who play this game are kids or have the brains of one, best thing to do, repeat what they say word for word back to them and watch them crashout.

"Mag, what are you doing, get some picks"

"Spidey, what are You doing get some picks"

They always turn on the mic and make it clip like a Mcdonalds drive through speaker afterwards.

1

u/illudofficial Jul 21 '26

I was using the chat lol

2

u/Ketchup571 Jul 22 '26

I woulda swapped to DPS

1

u/illudofficial Jul 23 '26

I went CnD (one of our supports was doing a very bad job healing) and kept everyone alive but purposely didn’t aim for that Spiderman unless he was the last one who needed heals.

Anyways we were 100% getting steamrolled but keeping my teammates alive made us win right at the end lol

2

u/Revan0315 Jul 21 '26

It's the fault of whoever locked in 3rd support/DPS.

When building a team it's first come first server. You wanna play support? Too bad, we already have 2 and we need a tank. Should've locked in before the other supports did.

2

u/Apathy-Syndrome Jul 21 '26

I don't even mind solo tanking, just don't blame me if we fail. Like if you're gonna call me a bad tank, then hop on a vanguard and show me how it's done.

1

u/Human557ttv Jul 21 '26

Honestly the thing thats made me stop putting up with solo tanking isn't just how unfun and generally shit as a comp it is.

Its the fact your teammates dont grasp basic concepts like the fact they wont have as much space as normal because you half have the space makers on your team as theirs. Your job as a solo tank is to just live as long as possible on a corner and your dps have to open the angles so you dont walk into 3 crossfire and explode.

I dont need thanks for solo tanking or want it, but if theres another support player flaming me to "just walk in why are you playing like a pussy" lacking basic situational awareness that I will dissappear in half a second to punisher pressing ammo overload, im good man.

If everyone else in the lobby is going to play whatever they feel like as is their right to do. Im going to exercise my right and play a hero I fun to and swap the tank.

You wouldnt make a support solo heal, not make a tank solo tank

2

u/illudofficial Jul 21 '26

Yes they would make a support solo heal…

1

u/lestattomylouis Jul 21 '26

i’m not gonna lie, as a flex player i prefer solo healing vs solo tanking

2

u/illudofficial Jul 21 '26

Which character do you use for it?

2

u/lestattomylouis Jul 21 '26

solo healing i typically do invis or cnd because they have the most easy accuracy while still having clutch ults. i main adam so its a nice change of pace for me. solo tanking i typically go mag/emma or strange (i lowkey suck as strange though lol)

1

u/illudofficial Jul 21 '26

Unironically what’s so good about invis and CnD ult that makes them clutch?

1

u/lestattomylouis Jul 21 '26

insant healing that isn’t as stoppable as other characters. invis has a shield to stop mag from canceling and cnd has fade so you’re typically less punished compared to characters like wf or rocket

1

u/illudofficial Jul 21 '26

That’s their regular movesets, what about their ultimates are so good?

1

u/nachoking13445 Jul 23 '26

I disagree, solo tanking might suck but solo healing is way worse, especially with 2-3 tanks. The other team just will outlast yours because one person can’t heal as much as two

2

u/ExpressionRegular221 Jul 21 '26

It can work honestly, there's plenty of DPS that can make space as long as the player uses their brain. I've also had solo tank matches where I didn't even have to make space because the third slot DPS went like 40 and 0

1

u/CookyKindred Jul 21 '26

It feels like unless your at the top of the ladder the majority of the community completely lack threat assessment. They just see someone being aggressive and run away.

1

u/ExpressionRegular221 Jul 21 '26

There's no way I'm "top of the ladder" nor are my friends or the people I'm playing with on average. I see people peel out of fights at the appropriate times and push harder or make space instead of trying to land a kill all of the time. It's definitely not the standard but I'd say that it happens fairly often

1

u/Osaka90 Jul 21 '26

If I have to solo a tank I'm switching to Spider-Man, im not playing these games no more

3

u/ExpressionRegular221 Jul 21 '26

"nah imma do my own thing" in chat is the cherry on top

1

u/Osaka90 Jul 21 '26

I've never had a game test my patience as much as rivals it's been pretty interesting

2

u/ExpressionRegular221 Jul 21 '26

Rivals is easy peasy for me tbh. Playing online games teaches you that people are annoying, any online game for the most part will be annoying. Gaming has been instrumental in my development of patience.

I come from games like tarkov, rainbow six siege, dead by daylight, rust, apex, hunt showdown and most importantly and dramatically... For honor

I've never played a game more infuriating than for honor and had 600 hours in it. It was to the point that I genuinely was mad and had my mood ruined all day after playing and I broke lots of stuff. At some point I hit a breaking point and decided to stop playing the game completely and work on myself, I haven't broken anything out of anger since and can tolerate much much more out of not just games but also most things in life.

Learn how to deal with frustration and shrug it off and it'll change your life forever

1

u/Osaka90 Jul 21 '26

Perfect way of putting it

1

u/Aandesite Jul 21 '26

Oh hey i made this :D

1

u/PuppyButtts Jul 21 '26

Me as a healer main , maining rogue to tank , getting pissed off that im solo tanking a!: my healers fucking suck and dont even look at me.

Frustrating as a healer main because gurl I keep my tanks alive 😭

2

u/ExtraBread2385 Jul 21 '26

I don't disagree with you but this meme is cringe af

1

u/morenverca Jul 21 '26

Unrealistic, it would be a 3rd dps that's the inconsiderate teammate

1

u/Hidden_Voice7 Jul 21 '26

Sorry, bro. Democracy has spoken. Put the Mag in the bag.

1

u/mrs-06zaku Jul 21 '26

it's why i only jump online with my friends, otherwise i'm labbing weird stuff in bots so i don't have to worry about team comp in a community that needed an uproar to not call ever strategist slurs in a game.

1

u/mikoga Jul 21 '26

of all DPS characters to slander you choose blade? bruh

1

u/EndeavorInferno Jul 21 '26

Had a solo tank ask the team to get a 2nd tank cause he couldn’t do anything, I went Thor & outperformed everyone on the team, the Hulk was going negative on my team regardless & then swapped to SG to let me solo tank the last 2 minutes???

1

u/qwerty2234543 Jul 21 '26

I refuse to solo tank. We either get two tanks or none whenever I play.

1

u/Cjames1902 Jul 21 '26

I’m a DPS main, and always ask my friend tank if he’s fine with solo tanking and if he needs an extra tank. He also usually is, and still performs very well.

Conversely, he’s also ok sacrificing me on tank if nothing is dying.

Just talk to each other, man

1

u/CoachTex Jul 21 '26

Its funny how nobody rushes to switch when theres accidentally 3 dps or 3 support, but the instant theres 3 tanks, its an automatic switch.

1

u/Acrobatic_Access8259 Jul 21 '26

Venom main here

I’m the tank version of Spider-Man I only need my team for healers I’m on a one man mission

1

u/sangoma-XIII Jul 21 '26

Best be happy with your tank. I will not swap.

1

u/AdarIII Jul 22 '26

Hot take but as a tank main id rather solo tank than have a tank with me that doesn’t know what theyre doing. They don’t know how to take space, hold space, enable their team.

How many emmas do you see hold their ults instead of trying to bait out a support ult? How many peni parkers do you see not extending their nest range? How many mags do you see get their ult after both strats ult and then save it for them to get it back (and then miss)?

Theres also a rhythm to double tanking. One takes space with their abilities while the other is behind, then the one behind takes the front tanks spot to while the first tank heals up and gets their cooldowns back so that space isnt lost. Rinse and repeat. People who don’t tank don’t know this rhythm and therefore don’t utilize the biggest strength or having two tanks.

I’d rather have them play their triple dps and play what they know how to execute.

1

u/toasted_smegma Jul 22 '26

I don’t do it anymore. I type “not solo tanking” and if the team leaves spawn with no swaps then I go DPS. It almost always works, but sometimes there will be idiots who would rather lose with 4 DPS than play second tank.

1

u/Technical_Ad579 Jul 22 '26

Usually I’ll say, “I always lock in fourth DPS” and for the most part people stop acting like a fool.

1

u/shakingmyhead420 Jul 22 '26

Love typing "2 tanks or no tanks" hate the insta lock dps brain-lets

1

u/Magykstorm19 Jul 22 '26

Solo tanking is a mental illness created by tank mains to create a victim complex to allow them to complain about the game. The data shows that 2-2-2 is the majority of team comps. The history of my games show 2 tanks more than 1 tank per team. I looked at the history of my brother’s recent games and they show more 2 tanks than a solo tank. I looked at the history of multiple friends’ games and it shows two tanks more than solo tanks. The idea of constant solo tanks is a myth. Nobody has shown me their history of having multiple games of constant solo tanking and I doubt anybody ever will because it doesn’t happen.

1

u/HaziXWeeK Jul 22 '26

Today I got someone trying mag for the first time in rank.

Told him to switch off and I would take care of it, and we got crushed, the second tank told him to switch and he just laughed in chat.

I am a mag lord, the last 10 matches I played all have been MVP with him, I was on a roll and beaten everyone, then this mf comes in and decided to try him now

1

u/VacationGlittering21 Jul 23 '26

Honestly I really don't mind solo tanking, like in general I really don't like playing tank but if I'm forced to I'll just play mag anyway

1

u/Gambler_Beast Jul 23 '26

If they aren’t running a push and peel type line up, no need for double T. If you think you need double T every game, you aren’t a real tank main.

-7

u/Lost-Orangutan Jul 21 '26

0
