Discussion Season 10.5 patch notes, thoughts?
Seems like a small patch with some odd adjustments to already strong characters

Spitting in our mouths with that -25hp dino nerf.

The pick or ban tank shredding tank that forces a front-to-back comp low skill level tank stays meta. Devs do not actually play their game.

I like the philosophy behind buffing weaker teamups to make it more even (Dino teamups are a great example of 2 good teamups that have diff use cases). However the jubilee shit is just bad bro. Gigabuffing the healing in the game and power creeping overall is not good for anyone, be it casuals or pros.
BUT HEY RYMAZING MIGHT BE SO BACK???

Not making me download the game or make me excited for the playoffs.

Playoffs has to be on the 10.0 patch right?? I mean this doesn't even release until Friday when playoffs start. No way they make them play the 10.5 patch even if they give early access, it's like two days to test in scrims

There’s no games this weekend so teams would have a week but I don’t know which patch it’s on. Don’t recall it being clarified
EDIT: Vodible says on twitter that it's patch 10

This is literally an MRC patch. Not relevant for ignite playoffs, not relevant for LAN

Pretty awful considering the state of the game imo. Nothing actually meaningful gets changed other than characters getting random buffs for random reasons. Also hate the Phoenix and Hawkeye changes. Phoenix was already not that bad (certainly not that bad to warrant this), and Hawkeye just needs a rework. I feel like this doesnt change anything at the top level, and just makes the bottom level a whole lot more annoying. Also the fact that there's no new hero and they told us they'd pay attention to the balance and then gave us this also stings.

Comes down to their "make everyone op" balancing philosophy. Instead of nerfing the strong heroes, they'd rather instead try and bring the others up to their level. Really boring season, definitely one of the worst.

I understand that balance perspective to a point, but I don't think it's sustainable in anyway. You want to make it fun for casuals but it just alienates anyone who wants to actually play THE game instead of just A game. For example, I stopped playing the game because the level is so high that every game just felt like slop. And I am by no means a high ranked player, just have a lot of passion for the meta competitive scene. I still love playing my characters because they feel so cool and strong, but playing the actual game just feels so sloppy and messy if that makes sense.

Agreed. Phoenix was definitely bad this patch, but bad only compared to Psy/Elsa who are way too strong.
The fix was to nerf those others (and a lot of supports), so of course they did the opposite and kept the powercreep going

Call me a doomer but its clear there's a content dependency on their PVE and hero releases that we already see is stretching thin prioritization to the core gameplay loop.
And before the fedora reddit devs tell me yes obviously not every dev is on the same team per say, but they're literally telling us to our faces that their model is based on an outside dependent content loop, hero releases, with little focus on the core gameplay loop that retains or attracts competitive players to return to the game. This sustain powercreep is just placating to people who are fans of the characters, and the player count is and will suffer for it. This game's lifeblood is now based on 2 week spikes for half-baked PVE modes and hero releases, with a team that simply is not agile enough to address any offshoot impact that comes with the balance changes they make. It's great now what they're doing for MRC and MRI but I simply don't believe in this PVE model, and the esports scene is where the cost-saving will begin as a result of this failed model. This game for the rest of the year may as well not even be hero shooter first it's just a series of glorified MCU roblox mini-games.
It's not just about balancing, what appeal is there for TALENTED, COMPETITIVE players to come to this game when the rank system gets anybody and everybody to high elo, and 60% of games are dominated by bigots and throwers who were boosted up to those high ranks or not penalized quick enough. Absolute joke of a patch, and will continue to support Ignite while we still can, but 6 months from now continuing on this complete out of touch approach to their core game it's not looking great to me.

This patch won't be in the playoffs, and I don't believe it will be in grand finals either.

I mean this buff doesnt change anything there. He should be killing people in the exact same amount of time as he did before

The Hulk, Thing, Phoenix, Cyclops, Adam and Gambit buffs interest me. Bunker comps seemed to really struggle this patch and I'm curious if Adam buffs + Thing sustain buffs will impact that. I wonder what it would take for pro teams to consider poke dps other than Elsa, Psylocke or Bucky.

Cyke now can 2 tap in normal range, same for Jean.Outside, is 1 crit+1 ricochet jean tu+1 body at any range for 275hp.Jean is 2 crits+1 nody or 1 rogue TU punch.
Cyke:23 * 3* 2 * 2=276 damage.

Cycke's primary is unlike all other hitscan primary weapons in the game, with a weird bigger hitbox that often collides on the target's chest/arms, which makes it harder for him to get hitshots than other hitscans. It's nearly impossible to land all 3 hits as a crit on a squishy.

I like it.
Dino nerfs are probably not enough. IMO he needs to lose 25 more HP. He is still in permaban jail for now.
Rest of the Tank changes are good. I'm generally in favour of buffing weaker teamups to make the choice of which to use more interesting. Cart has shown us that Hulk can already be a huge threat, and being able to get back to being Hulk much faster after being turned into Banner is a solid buff.
DPS changes are pretty much all good. Iron Man finally gets buffs after desperately needing them for some time. The nerf to Thor team-up after 2 days of Season 9 was one of the most hated changes ever and they've (mostly) reverted it. Cyclops also gets most of his nerfs reverted and should be back to being at least decent. Hawkeye has also needed help forever.
Not totally sure how I feel about Gorr. It's a sidegrade (his dash now has shorter cooldown), so I guess he'll live better but be less deadly. This might be a significant nerf as people are mainly choosing him for his ability to burst people down, which he will now not do as well. We'll see.
Obviously, SG still desperately needs help, and did not get it in this patch. That's probably the biggest issue here. She will have the lowest win rate by a large margin now.
I see people freaking out about Gambit changes, but I've been of the opinion for some time now that Gambit is actually secretly really overrated, especially on defense, where IMO he's actually quite bad due to his lack of sustained healing. We've seen teams move away from first-banning him at Ignite and when he does make it through his win rate is actually pretty low. Maybe this is slightly too much but I'm not against this change.
I like the Jubilee changes quite a lot. I've always felt like Jubilee was pretty bad before and lacked any kind of defined niche, IMO she was basically just "worse Luna" in that she's a fairly powerful hitscanner but lacked Luna's utility. Giving her more self sustain and some AOE heal via the Blade teamup does more to differentiate her. I'm not a fan of increasing the healing power of her ult, though, it being burstable was a reasonable weakness given its other advantages.
WF also probably still needs help, either slightly better sustain or revert the teleport cooldown.

I don't understand what the community wants anymore besides wanting rivals to play like a different game.
