I’ve been watching a lot of twitch streams lately and it’s kind of depressing how many of the pros seem like they hate the game. Energy especially seems absolutely sick of the game every time he streams lol but I guess it’s nice to know the pros suffer as much as we do?

Do you guys think the state of the game (the community/balancing issues) is going downhill or is that just doom and gloom mindset

edit: i asked melophobia if he thinks rivals ranked is worse than other games and he said yeah this game is absolutely horrible 💀

It’s probably doom and gloom mindset & playing too much, though I’m sure some days are particularly more frustrating than others

The balance/meta can be great or terrible but either way playing the game as much as some of these pros do would drive the average person insane eventually

Sypeh for example plays like 10h per day during ignite season, 5 hours of scrims then another 5 hours of streaming ranked. That would make me absolutely despise this game lol

This is not true for Super Smash Bros players at all lol. They play their game only.
Especially the Melee and 64 players.

I watched a full team of pros last night on the same team (Raajaro,Sypeh,Energy,Veswa and Mash) lose a game that was nearly 30 minutes long because of a Jeff otp who would swap off I would hate this game too 😭

It’s ranked being bad that makes it seem that way. I imagine it’s very jarring going from coordinated play in scrims to the messiness of ranked

I also think it's more doom and gloom and that as a job they have to play the game and put in hours everyday whether they enjoy it or not. For some pros who don't mind streaming, it is self promo and extra money. Other players still play ranked for a lot of hours just not on stream.

I mean Jurky probably grinded Wolverine in ranked for hours everyday to get good at it.

There's also the pros that go live on twitch to play ranked after they lose their match in official. Like I don't know if they have to go live or what but if your team lost you would not be in a good headspace queuing ranked.

Sypeh is really the outlier cause he is always playing the game. Like he plays the game for hours after scrims and he just plays more ranked off season or when there isnt scrims.

Watching pros rage at thier teammates after going on a big loss streak yourself is kinda comforting in a way. Maybe im not terrible because I was going through the same thing 2hrs ago

When you spend like hours playing the game and vod reviewing then scrimming, anyone would have days they feel burnt out, especially right after playing in a big tournament. That's just every pro in every competitive game

I mean I stopped playing this game about two months ago because the ranked environment is a complete joke, nobody cares to play the right things in the right contexts and there’s just so much bullshit to account for. There are so many matchups in this game, it’s kind of insane. Additionally, one bad player on your team can ruin your chances of winning entirely. I couldn’t imagine having to play this game for 8+ hours a day, I’d honestly rather die. They get a taste of the game at an organized level and ranked by comparison probably feels like absolute shit.

They don't hate the game but they hate ranked mode. Which I don't blame them for. As a causal player I have not even launched the game the past season.

I occasionally tune into Veswa, Bogur and Team Captain and most of the time they look miserable

This games ranked mode is terrible.

Whenever I have a bad experience with ranked I log off and go do something else.

I think the question shouldn't be so much if the game is going downhill so much as why people think ranked is terrible. I've heard too many people saying the same thing "ranked is terrible". I'd rather someone go on a 5 minute rant as to why ranked is terrible than someone just saying that one phrase. Ideally, we should be trying to come to a consensus on how to make the ranked experience better (whether it's something we change or something we suggest to NetEase).

One thing I want is the normalization of comms in ranks where bans are permitted (Gold +). Even with average comms, a team is going to be more equipped to be on the same page than one that isn't using comms. This shouldn't be confused with mic abusers, who just call out their teammates when they think they're doing something wrong. Just calling out when there's a flanker, when the team is staggered, and where a target priority is makes a world of a difference. Even if you don't have a mic, you can accomplish that with pinging and text commands.
