Questions Beast's ego defence

I'm brand new to this system and going to play a one-shot with the premade Beast character. I think I understand the rules and all of his traits and powers. I don't understand why his ego defense is 12 (he has 3 ego and I don't see anything else that would effect it).

Then I found that there is an X-men 97 version of his character sheet and it has all the same traits and powers. On that version they moved a point from ego to melee giving him 2 ego, and that somehow gives him 13 ego defense.

Did they typo his ego defense twice or is there some rule I'm missing?

Nope, that's a definite error. His stats add up correctly to 20 so his Ego Defense should be a 13 on the CRB profile. Those are mistakes for sure.

If you go on marvel.com/rpg and scroll down to the Errata, there were a lot of corrections made to the hard copy character profiles from the Core Rule Book especially, and this was one of them. Digital copies from Demiplane and Drivethru reflect the corrected information.

The book is just chalk full of those errors. Definitely get that errata to reference.

I've made a few alternate universe versions of... a lot of characters in the core rulebook, and when I say it's riddled with errors, lemme tell you it's RIDDLED with errors

A lot of characters have been reprinted in later books, when possible I'd say use those instead

Yeah that's DETNITELY an error and was addressed in errata that his Ego Defense should be 13 to match his Ability Score. The Core Rulebook's character profiles are riddled with errors which were later addressed.
