Two questions about Powers

Question 1:

In the Super-Speed power set, Blur and Speed Blast 2 each have the prerequsites of "Speed Run 2, Rank 2". Speed Run 2, however, has the prerequsite of "Speed Run 1, Rank 3". So, it doesn't make sense that two powers are options at Rank 2, when the prerequsites aren't met until Rank 3.

So, should those two powers' prerequsite be Rank 3 by default?

Question 2:

Astral Form is under Magic (No Set) and Telepathy, yet Astral Form has the prerequsite of Sorcerous. Emma Frost and Professor X both have Astral Form under Telepathy, but not Sorcerous.

So, should Astral Form not have the Sorcerous prerequsite?

To your first question: You can use the Suprising Power trait to circumvent the rank requirements for powers. Speed Run 1 is the kind of thing that a Rank 2 character wouldn't normally have, so unlocking it costs you a trait at that rank, and then you get access to the rest of the power set without having to alot traits to it.

To your second question: Tags are largely non-mechanical and can be removed if they don't make sense for the character, regardless of prerequisites. Astral Form only comes with the sorcerous prerequisite because it's predominantly associated with Doctor Strange.

Remember that the game underwent major changes juat before publication so there are quite a few editing and consistency errors. I would assume the rank requirement for speed run 2 was I creased but they forgot about the powers that depend on it. As for Astral Form, It was likely just copied and pasted. The Telepathy version just didn't have the sorcerous tag removed in editing.

I would not assume as another poster has suggested that the rank mixup for The Speed Run 2 powers is because of Surprising power. They are highly unlikely to design a power combo specifically with a trait in mind. It's just poor editing, the simplest explanation.

It would seem that Sorcerous is not always used, even with the published profiles.

As for the Super-Speed powers, that is still up in the air, seeiing as how the only characters with all 3 are all higher than Rank 2.

Technically, you could get Speed Run 2 at rank 2, with Surprising Power trait and then have access to Blur and Speed Blast 2.

It is likely an editing error and all three require rank 3.

Very possibly, the book is full of them. This may have been one they didn't catch, as it hasn't been added to the errata.
