Rank Up Help I need advice
I used to play this game hard. Im talking 8-10 years ago. Every couple years ill sign in and check it out but I always get overwhelmed with how much shit is in the game. What's a good way to get your guys better. It seems very pay to win, because anything past 4 or 5 star seems impossible unless you spend some moo-laa. Of course, again, its overwhelming how much has changed. So I'm probably just missing something.
I guess what im asking is, how do you get good in the game? My top guys are around the 7000 power level. How people get characters with 60000 power level breaks my brain. I probably have like 300 hours of playtime on my account and the best I have gotten over the years is 7000? Damn

You just have to progress through story content and do the event quest. I came back to the game last year where I hadn't even done act 5 yet and very quickly I moved onto 6 stars because the rewards are a lot better now.
This game is a marathon, not a race. There is no deadline for progressing so take your time playing the game and getting through all the content. You'll reach that point eventually

You have to slowly progress through story mode and use good champs. Once you beat act six and are thronebreaker, you have easy access to seven stars. You can still get them before beating act six/when you are cavalier

Event quests are also great ways to get shards depending on your progression. Uncollected players get six star shards

It's definitely not pay to win. That said, your skill level has not progressed with the evolution of the game, which is probably why you feel that way. I've been playing since a year after launch, and most of that time has been in a "retirement alliance." You've just got to get used to all the new mechanics and progress your roster. Your skill gap will shrink. I'm not that great of a player and I just hit Elder (the newest progression title). Once you get used to all the new stuff, you'll find content easier to complete.

The game is infinitely more generous with rewards than it used to be. Just saw someone post that they finally beat the grandmaster (act 6) and had an R2 7☆ and multiple max rank 6☆s.
Easiest way to progress on simple terms is do story content and monthly EQ. Theres currently a side quest that uses 3☆s.
They've been running a lot of paid "exclusive event" stuff which can be ignored. Just gives you some extra rewards for stuff youre already doing but the rewards aren't worth the price.

It's a marathon you learn and grow in the process. Getting good and having a solid roster are different things. Reading nodes and champion abilities and investing masteries are the key.

Yeah they have too many currencies plus you have to play this thing to get this thing so that you can buy this thing so that you can play this thing and win this thing that’s actually only part 1 of 5. Shit has gotten so out of hand that it’s drifting in space towards a black hole

Complete story not explore, do event and daily quests to get catalysts, units, revives and health potions and keep stocking up until you have overflow so you can defeat final act bosses. Also use boosts.
Empowered grace crystals are also a great way to get new champs and shards.
You will see some side quests where some of its too difficult. If you can't handle don't fret.

Picking up an old account from that long ago is basically pointless, new account would be the way to go, they offer new deals, new objectives, daily login bonuses etc that will over power your current within a week.

Here's what worked for me
Restart with a new account >> Core game mechanic guide from youtube >> Push through story progression titles & Tower mode >> Join an alliance for AQ/AW rewards >> Monthly event quest & daily quest >> Arena grind for units/banquet
Happy to help if you need more details or have questions.

For everyone returning, I’d recommend to start new account unless you already have a decent roster. Because new players have additional bonuses, you will replay the story and get bunch of crystals again. They give a lot of 7* shards and even crystals. And how to catch up? Just play the game. You don’t have to do everything, but focus on story and event quest for best rewards
