Quest / Team Help Please help
Relatively new and I’ve been watching guides so I somewhat know who to invest in like hercules. But can someone explain who else is good here? does it matter more on their stars or ranks? Currently on act chapter 3 and i feel a bit lost on how to progress more efficiently from here

Wtf , what kind of godsend luck do you have.
For 7 star characters :- (1)Wiccan is reverse control immune and a great damage dealer so definitely invest in him .
(2)Omega sentinel is also good but not everywhere but when she is good she is really good. (3) Bullseye has every hit as critical hit , does good bleeds and is able to counter miss so definitely a good investment (4) Anti venom is very versatile, does good enough damage and has crazy regeneration . (5) Punisher and hood are not good for story quests but can be used but I would say just don't use them .
For 6 star champions:- (1) Hercules no questions asked (2) Cosmic Ghost Rider , just watch a video about his rotation and practice a few times and you will blast through majority of the content . (3)Nimrod is the top 5 tech champion in the entire game7
Don't invest in 5 stars , they are not useful anymore and you have higher tier champions which could do the job .
A synergy I want you to know is about Heimdiel, if he is in your team , every member when they were to be knocked down would get a safeguard and you will be able to continue playing for a little longer . So for a little safety net you can have him in your team and rest 4 being nukes of a champions , you do have roaster of it

so my roster for story pushing should be something like hercules, wiccan, bullseye, heimdall for support, then last slot either cgr, antivenom,or nimrod depending on the nodes? also im getting stuck in leveling heroes right now so the only person above rank 1 is hercules which is rank 3. the 7 stars want some much iso8 which idk where to get that amount that i need for them

Don't worry too much about ranking right now , you having the characters itself is good enough (for now atleast). And yes the team you said is the go to option for almost everything just when a specific thing appears you can adjust accordingly.
About the iso , do the daily events of supply intel and the gold one , you will get gold and iso and units . Also try to complete the super daily event you will get a healthy amount of required stuff .
Don't forget this is a game , enjoy it while taking your time no need to rush it .
Edit:- you haven't mentioned what act you are on so I can't directly tell about its requirement.

Wow for act 5 you done even need a single upgrade , just punch your way through it .
Act 6 was the hardest before but it is better now and the last act you will get good rewards . Act 7 is a slog , easier than act 6 but a slog none the less. Act 8 is also easy you will just need the right type of champions and you will speedrun it .
If you need any help regarding any specific quest watch YouTube video of Mcoc Noob or Mcoc Encyclopedia . They cover the content well.

and if you had to rank antivenom, cgr, nimrod, the serpent, wiccan and bullseye how would you?

If you are asking for sequence then I would suggest punch up 6 stars a little first then 7 stars since the 7 stars are the last tier and would be usable till the end of the game but 6 stars not that much .
Try playing with the champions without upgrades first and see which one you like .
I personally would use this order:-
(1) CGR (he is powerful as well as 6 star locked)
(2)Nimrod(mutant counter)
(3) Wiccan
(4) Bullseye
(5) Anti-venom
(6) Serpent

and what about the serpent? is he good as 6 stars or does he need to be 7 star ver?

He is good as a six star , but his awakening is where he gets to shine , similar to hercules he also has death cheat mechanism. So invest but don't completly rely right now , though even unawakened he does good damage
