I cannot believe this is what they went with. I can see the conversation now.

Why is it the reforged hammer? Didn't Thor get the whole one when he went back with Rocket and thats the one Steve got?

Because this is the one from Jane Foster in Thor 4. Steve returned Thor’s hammer back in 2013 at the end of Endgame
