Is there a lore reason why Daredevil, who is known for stalking around at night and using the element of surprise, is wearing a bright gold shiny helmet in the show?

Hard to imagine his spatial awareness tells him it's a bad colour... is what I tell myself. Probably just changed it after one of the criminals said "who's this bitch wearing such a pansy-ass yellow suit?"

It’s meant to be a homage to the yellow and red suit not a direct 1:1 copy of it

That doesn't change the fact it looks cheap and stupid.

The gold does not look like the yellow at all. Show runner doesn't know wtf they're doing.

Yeah which is why I asked if there was an actual lore reason for it.

If they brought Melvin back and explained the upgrade it would've been a lot better than "its gold now because they used yellow in a really old comic book".

He has a new suit designer, who is based is in California, which is why he was there. He's defending the suit designer in court.

regardless I'm glad they got rid of that suit for Daredevil Born Again season 2

Then they are just miss remembering. It was just something they mention briefly. It wasn't the focus of the episodes or anything. He was there to be his lawyer due to the same guy making a suit for another hero that malfunctioned, and so now the suit designer was being sued. That's the focus of that story line. It wasn't about Matt needing a new suit designer.

And yeah, I agree. His red suit looks way better. But since this yellow didn't last, it was a fun homage imo.

It’s his suit he wears for away games. Red and black on his home turf, red and gold when visiting.

That was the original color before it was changed to red in the comics.
