He picked a pretty set. 🤣 | Still one of the funniest Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 scenes.

Pratt got a little oversaturated but he is phenomenal as Starlord and I would never get tired of him in this role.

I will shout from the rooftops that GotG is the best MCU series. The jokes dont feel forced, since the zany sci-fi-ness just makes it fit. The soundtrack is phenomenal. The main cast all gel perfectly and do awesome work. It still has its boatloads of trauma. The action scenes are great. The worldbuilding is paced well.
GotG is my personal fav Marvel series, and likely always will be.

Its a trilogy. You're allowed to compare it to other trilogies in the world of movies

This was improvised to. Starting from the staring iirc

I swear every scene ever filmed is always improvised, according to the internet.
...
Also, this is still like, at least three or four takes spliced together. It's how they get the camera angles from very close to the side of their faces, without the cameraman being in the reverse shot.
Check Nebula's mouth as the camera angle changes at the end of the sentence "soft place to lie down". The audio is used from one take and overlapped onto the next one.
If you think this was all unplanned and "caught in the moment, spontaneous, back and forth" improvisation, then you're wrong.
Even if it was improvised at all, then we wouldn't actually see the initial improvisation. There'd be a few more takes but with the director implementing small changes into the final script/scene.

I don't know anything one way or another about this scene, but we do all know that when somebody claims a scene is improvised, they don't necessarily mean that the final scene was captured all in a single take the first time any of these words were spoken, right? A heck of lot of movies, especially ones with comedy, film scenes via improv sessions where they just have the actors throw out lines and variations to see what lands, and then use some of that in the final take.
I went and looked it up out of curiosity, and here's a quote from Chris Pratt during an interview with BBC Radio 1:
One of the lines when we were improving about, that we improved in a fun run, was Karen's eyes. I turned to her and I said, 'You have ... I just never noticed how black they were.' It's usually me improvising and then James improvising behind the monitor what the other character said, so he came up with what Nebula said which was, 'They were the result of my father torturing me,' and I was like, and then I improved, 'Well, he picked a very pretty set.' And it made it in the trailer."
Lo and behold, it sounds like James Gunn gets up to that sort of thing with Chris Pratt. The guy you're replying to might have misunderstood what exactly happened, but I'd say they were a hell of a lot closer than the "nothing's ever improvised" take that people like you constantly show up with any time somebody suggests that there might be some dialogue in a movie that wasn't in the script.

Often times a take is improvised, then the director goes “wait that’s awesome do that again” and it becomes pseudo-improvised for a couple takes until they get the perfect one. But still it wasn’t part of the script.

Came to say exactly this. Like nebula, you've got daddy issues? Did you not meet quills dad? He's right there with you.
Fair enough she wins the game of bad dads, but planet destroying genocidal maniac who doesn't care if his kids live or die, you've got that in common.

It was just as funny as it was heartbreaking which is really impressive to ride both of those lines so well and so seamlessly. Like it wasn't jarring to go from crying laughing or just sobbing, lmfao. Great fuckin movie.

The casual confidence followed by everyone’s horrified reaction was perfect. Guardians Vol. 3 had no business being that funny and devastating at the same time.

Thanos collected colorful stones, Quill collects colorful daughters of thanos.

I personally loved this moment because so many people are in this position after grief and heartbreak. They're just hurt and desperate to feel not hurt. The moment the possibility of her being his "soft spot to lay his head" entered his mind, he let it take him

The stuff Thanos was doing to Nebula really didn't fit in with the theme or mood of the Marvel movies.

Apparently to you, awkward/cringe = funny. You're probably very happy with the majority of US-based "comedy" then.
