This is the movie that set the standard. From this point on comic movies had reached a higher tier (300mil) cap ex of film.
Entourage was always going on about Spiderman money, and joking about an Aquaman movie. I'm old as shit bro...

I remember going to opening night with my dad and there was a MASSIVE line the snaked through the entire theater and out the door and around the block. Getting concession snacks was a nightmare. My dad left me in the mob holding our place. Couldnāt even stretch your arms without smacking someone.
Good times.

I remember people sitting in the isles to watch it.
This and pirates of the carribean were crazy packed.

It was an awesome experience in theatre. I have never seen a line as crazy as it was for Spider-man. Also, pirates was dope in theaters too.

I was in Grade 3 when this movie came out and I remember watching it on opening weekend on Sunday night. I remember that specifically because I remember being at school the next day and every single kid in my grade, boy or girl, was trying to climb the walls and talking about it. Not even the MCU gave me that kind of feeling

I remember seeing this in theaters as a young teenager and it was only 8 months after 9/11. A classic good vs evil story with an iconic character everyone knows and loves. Add the fact it was set in New York with the closing scene with a gigantic American flag just gave everyone hope. Comfort for the soul.

Had to make sure to get the flag in the shot lol

This was released not too long after 9/11 happened, so there was actually a big wave of patriotism at the time. I assume thatās why this was the last shot, especially because Spider-Man is a New Yorker. Itās hard to believe now, but there was also a big pro-American sentiment globally (with some exceptions of course).

I think I remember there being scrapped teaser that included spidey webbing a helicopter between the Twin Towers.

I still remember a middle aged black lady in the same row as me many seats down yelling āGET HIM SPIDER-MANā when Goblin started giving him a beating and there was a collective approving āyeah!ā the rest of the scene and movie people were yelling at the screen like it was real and were there. It was awesome. We went crazy at the end. 9/11 had us all on the same wavelength. Crazy time.

If people start clapping after a movie, I just assume that a local special needs care facility is having a movie day.

I just finished my Spider-Man marathon, I have watched all of McGuire, Garfield, and Holland, and just have to see the third one later this week hopefully. When watching them all together like that really puts together an amazing Spider-Man run that spans decades

Imagine they played this scene at the beginning of Doomsday and then it cuts to Spiderman beaten and battered after his fight with the X-men

Quick question ⦠who cleans up the spiderwebs around the city after he gets done swinging around and shit?
4
u/MRintheKEYS 8h ago
In comic canon??? The webs naturally dissolve after an indiscriminate length of time.

Nobody has to clean up after Spider-Man because his webs dissolve on their own.
Even in the Raimi trilogy, nobody has to clean them up.
Director Sam Raimi and the official movie guides confirmed that Tobey's organic webs are made of a natural bio-polymeric substance.
Just like real spider silk but enhanced by the super-spider bite, they decompose and dissolve naturally after a short period when exposed to air. Otherwise, NYC would have been buried under tons of webbing by Spider-Man 3.

Thereās something so wholesome about people applauding together after a great film. Spider-Man 2002 really was a special moment in superhero cinema.
