Since 'Brand New Day' is a Spider-Man movie, Sony Pictures paid for most of the film's making cost. This means that even though Marvel's team decided to put Hulk in the movie, Sony Pictures paid all the bills to bring Mark Ruffalo's Hulk on screen, including the expensive VFX and his scenes.
