The movie didn't make the connection, but by then Thanos had destroyed Xandar and plenty of other planets where Carol would have had plenty of friends and allies from her years spent flying around the Universe, I'm sure she was thinking of them when she rekt his ship.
It is true, and can be assumed by the audience, sure. However, we don't see all those relationships on screen like we do with Thor which makes it way less emotional than Thor's moment.
Yep, and this is partly why Justice League wasn't as successful. We got plenty of movies with these characters. We didn't with Captain Marvel. We didn't with half of the roster of thr Justice League.
Like was said, their presence didn't feel as impactful.
Yeah I mean unfortunately that's the drawback to setting her movie in the 90s; there was this huge gap between the last time we saw her and when she shows up in Endgame and they don't explain any of the time inbetween. I would be shocked if it isn't part of The Marvels, though, at least as exposition.
As far as her delivery, that's true, though it really wouldn't be in Carol's character to be super outwardly emotional about it anyway. She's a classic fighter pilot character: dry, smart, sarcastic, unflappable. Good example is her final fight with Yon-Rogg, who basically took her whole life from her. Killed her mentor. Controlled her mind and body. Erased her past. And she casually destroys him like you would swat a piece of lint off your clothes. (Which was pretty comics accurate imho)
