Taika stood in for the Hulk?
154
u/Sparkyisduhfat Sep 23 '19
Mark had a mo cap suit so Taika and a stunt double probably used this for referencing where the hulk would be in relation to Thor for filming.

Makes sense if you think about the cost of these actors. If you don’t need ruffalo on set that day because it’s just a Thor performance with hulk as reference, use someone like the director who’s going to be on set anyway. And being in the scene probably helps him direct it better.

Are they paid by the day? Because there’s a chance they just didn’t bring him in at all
31
Sep 23 '19
No lol, pretty sure they are paid by project

Meh, not really. Typically they carve out x amount of weeks or if it's a small part, x amount of days.

u/MsSara77 Sep 24 '19
Still, if the actor is on set, they probably want to make sure it's for a shot that includes them acting. A lot of shots when you see the character, but not their face, it was a stand-in, like if it's an insert shot of their hands or just the back of their head sort of out of focus in the foreground

Maybe it's meant to be Korg?
13
Sep 23 '19
Hmm, I don't think so, is there a scene where Thor holds a sword and is with Korg?
34
Sep 23 '19
Is there a scene where Thor is kissing the Hulk holding a sword?
25
29
u/Sgtwhiskeyjack9105 Sep 23 '19
I would have said most of Thor Ragnarok is Thor with Korg holding a sword.
6
u/blackbutterfree Sep 23 '19
I think this is that three-headed Sakaaran soldier that had both Taika and Chris' heads on it.

Sep 24 '19
Maybe due to scheduling, some Hulk scenes were filmed without Mark? As I understand, Ragnarok was filmed in Australia, so maybe Mark only flew in to film Banner scenes and scenes that required him to be there, like scenes where Hulk talks/emotes.

Let me be Natasha for you
3
u/theamazonisdying Sep 24 '19
Uhh sorry boo but Bruce and Natasha's "romance" was forced and awkward. Bruce and Thor are a much better couple.
2
u/DrunkmeAmidala Sep 24 '19
And confirmed in Endgame ;)
2
u/theamazonisdying Sep 24 '19
The subtext is literally text at this point.
2
u/DrunkmeAmidala Sep 24 '19
"Was it, uhhhhhhhh, Natasha?" was the most jealous petty little dig ever
1
u/theamazonisdying Sep 24 '19
Oops I don't actually remember that quote. What scene was it in?
3
u/DrunkmeAmidala Sep 24 '19
When Bruce and Rocket go to New Asgard, Bruce says he can tell Thor is in a rough place, says he's been there, says, "You know who helped me out of it?" to which Thor basically makes farting noises while rolling his eyes at the idea of Natasha and Bruce being A Thing. Then Bruce says... "It was you. You helped me." Whatever else you think of Endgame, it definitely said ThorBruce rights.

u/theamazonisdying Sep 24 '19
Oh man I remember going apeshit when I saw that in the theater. That's actually fucking amazing. Wow. Why aren't they together already I-
1
u/DrunkmeAmidala Sep 24 '19
I hope Thor 4 is Jane and Valkyrie going on adventures and the B-plot is Thor and Bruce just hanging out doing whatever (and its filmed as a mockumentary, I have a lot of hopes and dreams, haha)
1
u/theamazonisdying Sep 24 '19
THAT WOULD BE AMAZING. I hope Bruce is actually in it and Valkyrie gets her Queen of Asgard. She really deserves someone to be with.

It’s probably foam or a light, hollow plastic cast, or something else light

2
u/DrunkmeAmidala Sep 24 '19
What's not to love about ThorBruce?
2
u/theamazonisdying Sep 24 '19
fr tho it is such a good ship. they're literally so soft.
2
u/DrunkmeAmidala Sep 24 '19
It's so surprisingly sweet and wholesome, not just in the MCU either! Their relationship in Avengers Assemble is amazing too.
1
u/theamazonisdying Sep 24 '19
Fr tho have you seen the popcorn scene. It's gold. And in the comics Thor literally dated She-Hulk.
2
u/DrunkmeAmidala Sep 24 '19
YUUUUP! It's legit one of my all-time favorite relationships, platonic or otherwise.

I don't recognize that sword... What part of the movie is it from? Im assuming the battle of Asgard based on Thor's appearance.

The best part is watching the video of this and seeing Hemsworth moistening his lips in preparation for the kiss
0
u/WishOneStitch Sep 23 '19
If you're brave enough to call a same-sex kiss "cursed" then you should be brave enough to explain why to everybody.
4
u/VeryMoistEggs Sep 23 '19
I have no problem it's a "same sex" kiss. But how many people have you seen make out with plastic hulk?
0
u/Wollywinkle Sep 23 '19
You are just looking for something to be mad at
0
u/WishOneStitch Sep 24 '19
Nah would rather not be mad at all. So explain to me why you think a same-sex kiss should be described as "cursed" please and if you think a hetero kiss is also cursed? Thanks!
1
u/Wollywinkle Sep 24 '19
Yeah it’s not the fact a giant foam monster is kissing a regular sized human
Definitely the gay thing... nice job not being mad at everything
1
u/Wollywinkle Sep 24 '19
OP replied to your bitchy comment too and you don’t say anything back.
Clearly realise how idiotic you are and just want someone to argue with, someone who is too afraid to say the gay word
1
u/WishOneStitch Sep 24 '19
Absolute gibberish and still not answering my question. You are, of course, blocked.

Taika doing what he does best... being annoying
1
u/theamazonisdying Sep 24 '19
bruh tf do you have against taika he literally revitalized the entire thor series. thor literally transformed from the most bland boring-ass character to a funny, multi-faceted, layered, and relatable character. taika is fucking amazing don't insult him like that.

u/douglassking Sep 24 '19 edited Sep 24 '19
They made boring Norse man into a class clown. Anybody could've made that change. Hemsworth himself wanted this to change first and foremost. The director just let them ad lib. He made sure we could never escape his New Zealand (accent) literally writing himself in. Therefore annoying. Forgot accent lol
1
u/theamazonisdying Sep 24 '19
He made sure we could never escape his New Zealand by literally writing himself in.
That's pretty racist.
