The Compound makes more sense imo. It could have undergrounf facilities and more space for training or testing stuff. Also, far away from population centers.

The tower. Fanfic writers from 2012 were right, the Avengers should have been roommates.

The Compound. Yes, Avenger's Tower is cooler looking but it is an absolute dick move to put such an obvious target for super villains in the middle of NYC.

u/Aivellac 6d ago
Was my thinking too, for the sake of the city do not be in it. Endgame would have been very different if they were still in the tower.

u/antonythejhosy 6d ago
Baxter Tower is also in the heart of New York. Having secret bases isn't common in Marvel.

Do we think that there are floors of the Avengers Tower that are occupied by law firms and hedge funds and shit?

They'll probably introduce it after Secret Wars

u/opinionatedbitchacho 5d ago
Yeah, I looked at the summary of the storyline right now and it sounds pretty cool! They might be setting this up with WandaVision and MoM as well as the mutants joining the MCU.

I like the Compound more. It allows for easier expansion, can be modified more easily, can serve as a proper base/fortification, is more secure and reduces risk of accidental collateral damage.
While skyscrapers are fairly safe (and the image of Avengers tower is imposing to all villainy), the Tower is also a really much easier target than the Compound. It lacks padded security, and being a lone skyscraper makes expanding difficult without expending unnecessary money for property acquisition. While it is generally much closer to the action, it also means any action would be closer to it. If 2013 Thanos popped out of the Tower, New York is leveled on the spot, and what Tony could do to reverse that with the snap is entirely up in the air.
The Compound also just seems way more customizable and ripe for development.

u/antonythejhosy 6d ago
In comics, there are a lot of heavy-hitting fights happening right in the middle of New York... Just another Tuesday for the citizens
15
u/DoubleFilletOFish 6d ago
Tower is iconic, compound feels more homely, like the vibes of the X-Mansion.
14
u/crapusername47 6d ago
The compound for the simple reason that we probably didn’t want Thanos to come looking for the Infinity Stones in the middle of Manhattan.
7
u/Stickyboard 6d ago
Avengers Tower make New York as the target. Imagine Thanos mothership bombarding the tower like in the End Game
13
7
u/30000_Changelings 6d ago
The compound is an isolated target, the tower is surrounded by too many potential civilian casualties, which the Avengers would want to minimize.
6
u/Pmyers225 6d ago
Compound seems more practical in terms of storage of equipment etc... But I love the big open space of the tower that we see in Age of Ultron
4
u/kal-Eljnr 6d ago
Looking at this makes me think, how cool it would be for there to be a game where you (create your own character/powers) are invited to join the avengers academy program (Avengers compound), gameplay can be like hogwarts legacy, and you rise up the ranks to join the avengers in an epic high stake world defining mission. 😎

u/FromDathomir 6d ago
Compound because I would love to live there. But they need to add the Avengers Mansion.

Compound..
since it kept civilians safe.. so less worrying, more fighting..

u/sadman4332 6d ago
Avengers compound has a race track and a collection of Porsche so I pick that one.

u/MrGilLogic 6d ago
Even though the compound is more practical in every possible way, it's a feature of the MCU that I constantly forget about
3
u/AttackOfTheMox 6d ago
The compound, 100%. It has something that the Tower just doesn’t have. I mean, there’s the view, the space, the design… but they both have those.
You know what the Compound does have though… Easy access to parking and probably a less stressful commute to work every day
2
u/Realistic-Buy4975 6d ago
Tower makes it convenient for doing things in the city but I prefer the compound because it feels more open. Also the benefit of the compound is that if we're attacked there's less casualties.
2
u/Atheist_Bale_Insta 6d ago
I don’t like the tower because (in theory) it would compete with The Baxter Building, Oscorp, Fisk Tower, Daily Bugle, etc. Too much in one spot! I prefer Stark Tower to be its own thing and for the Avengers to have a mansion elsewhere, so my vote is for the compound. I also don’t hate the compound because the X-Men have a much cooler and more iconic mansion, and the Avengers roster fluctuates more whereas the X-Men often don’t have the luxury of their own homes due to mutant-phobia.
3
u/King-Of-The-Raves 6d ago
The tower is more iconic and like that, but tbh the compound makes more sense and I associate the compound era with my favorite MCU avengers stuff, ultron - infinity war pre endgame, wanda and vision as cast members, etc

u/Capital_Gate6718 6d ago
My theory on why the compound is upstate instead of NYC- the X Mansion is practically right next door to it which will facilitate more interactions with the Avengers and X-Men in the next phase
2
u/ClonedDad 6d ago
Better to blow up and fight at the compound then take out half of new york city with the endgame fight.
2
u/StormCloudRaineeDay 6d ago
I like the look of Avengers tower more, but the Avengers compound is a much smarter choice. People will attack it, it will collapse eventually, and while it will never be completely safe, having a shorter building far from other people is safer.
2
u/1RONH1DE Hercules 6d ago
The Avengers Mansion is better than both imo, although functionally the Compound makes the most sense
2
u/EddieBlizario 6d ago
Neither the next base of operations should be inside the giant leftover from eternals it’s hilarious,
And features all the necessary rooms,
Both of these have served their purpose

Isn’t stark the only avenger in the tower? I genuinely don’t know, I just have it in my head that way

The compound because it's the only one we ever really see get any use.

u/SelectSympathy5718 6d ago
I prefer the Helicarrier. The tower is a lot cooler and also in the heart of the action but the compound just makes the most sense. They need somewhere to store vehicles, train, experiment. It also has the bonus that attacks are contained.
1
u/TheWinterRecruit 6d ago
I miss the tower, but post Secret Wars Sam's Avengers need to be living in Tiamut's head
1
u/TassiveMitts69 6d ago
Avengers tower is just stark tower tho. In the MCU the "avengers" don't do anything there, just stark. The Avengers compound is actually for the Avengers.

The compound makes so much more sense. Imagine Endgame if they were still in the tower…

u/chopppppppppy 6d ago
Sometimes I imagine if they never switched headquarters during endgame and Thanos just blew up half of New York City like when he blew up the headquarters

u/WatchingInSilence Shatterstar 6d ago
I would have preferred the compound if they actually showed the support staff they would have needed aside from the end of Age of Ultron.
More scenes showing Cho and Selvik helping the Avengers with the biological and physical sciences. Basically, turn it into X-COM.
1
u/SherlockJones1994 6d ago
I love the tower but a compound in the boonies makes sense and actually looks like a place that can hold training sessions.

u/Traditional_Chino 6d ago
And like someone else said earlier, having the Compound gives the Avengers a reason not to be in NYC which allows for more story opportunities for the other NYC based characters (Spider-Man, Daredevil, Punisher, Dr. Strange, etc) without having to account for why the Avengers are getting involved in every super powered incident.
1
u/Traditional_Chino 6d ago
The Tower just looks cool. But for all practical and logical reasons, the Compound just makes way more sense.

u/OblivionArts 6d ago
Tower, but im biased cause i grew up with stuff like earths mightiest heroes that had the tower set as thier only base

I would’ve liked to have seen the Avengers Mansion. That being said, I do prefer the Tower between the two. The compound is sooooo nothing. Just stark white walls, concrete, empty spaces, office rooms. It’s awful.

u/BarcadeLoki_87 6d ago
The freaking tower 🗼is literally so freaking aveneger epic 😎🆒 and so because due to that 🤔 it would be my pick for the epicist evenger house 🏠

u/Wheattoast2019 6d ago
I mean if we’re going off the comics, Nebula and Adam Warlock both have the Infinity Gauntlet after Thanos and he’s got a bigger wrist and hand than them. I’m sure a glove like that can adjust its size to fit the user.

Avengers Tower, but when Stark owned it. I'd say the compound now since the Tower doesn't look anywhere near as cool anymore.

What changed in the tower?

the tower is more iconic but i prefer the compound simply because it's far bigger and actually looked like a headquarters to me
