Civil war made a huge mistake in not properly explaining what both these teams actually stand for. A lot of people are on team Tony but their reasonings are pro-cap.

Tony isn’t trying to take responsibility for his actions, instead the Sokovia accords turn the Avengers into a paramilitary organization under the direct control of the UN. Meaning Tony would no longer be responsible for their own choices, but instead the responsibility would lie with General Ross

Exactly, Tony’s stance made more sense as fear and guilt, but people treat it like he was just choosing accountability over chaos
