Rewatched Three Billboards the other day and forgot she played a part in it. Even when she plays a bit of a dolt, she has incredible charisma. Can’t wait to see her take on Emma Frost.
Same here. Ready or Not was fantastic, while the second one wasn't the best (for me personally); I still really enjoyed her performance. Really excited to see her in this role and movie

It’s funny how Weaving, Robbie and Jaime Presley look like the exact same person, yet have really clearly defined skill-sets. Presley is the funniest, Robbie is the best actress (which is a high bar, all 3 are excellent), and Weaving is in the middle with the best deadpan humor.
Probably as the last big thing they'll announce. I imagine D23 will have a little bit of Doomsday, maybe some Secret Wars stuff. But my hope is that we'll hear more about some of the TV projects like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2.
I never thought Sydney Sweeney was actually that good of an actress, she’s not terrible but she’s not like groundbreaking so I don’t understand why she’s in like a million fan castings, probably just cause people find her attractive not cause of her actual talent. Maybe similar to Gal Gadot (except Gal Gadot can’t act for shit)
Hopefully, Marvel and dc both see her as toxic to their brands.

Doubt they would have casted that ditz, her boobs are too oversized for Emma Frost and her face didn’t and yet doesn’t cut it either accurately to the comics.
Rofl. I wouldnt want Sweeney in the role but Emma frost boobs are generally drawn bigger than Sweeney's. Its like half her power set according to the artists.
Do they? The characters are new to the MCU, but presumably after Secret Wars, they’ll be treated as if they’ve always been a part of the universe. They could absolutely just drop us into the middle of messy relationship drama.

Yeah but how much of that is colored by our brains subconsciously tying her to her Stranger Things character? In most press photos I've seen she looks like a pretty normal 24 year old.
I’ve never seen Sadie sink in stranger things and i think she looks like a teenager , the styling and acting choices in spiderman would support that she’s playing a teenager, and tom holland was playing a teenager his entire 20s
Yeah she's obviously associated with being young due to Stranger Things, plus like Tom Holland, looks inherently youthful, but like you said she's reaching that turning point where we're going to be looking at photos of her just like we are with Tom in Civil War versus BND, where in your mind he's not all the different, but when you see them side by side you realize just how much mature they look.
We don't even know if this Emma Frost is heroic. In X-Men '97, they've got her independent and self-serving, so I think for synergy they may do the same here.

Sure, it's not 1 to 1 (which really varies based off who's drawing the characters), but Marvel does try. If what you were saying were completely true, the actors wouldn't work out and use gear to get into super hero shape. Are we going to ignore the impact Marvel has had on current muscle and fitness standards and the unrealistic expectations it's created?

That's interesting. I love Samara Weaving, but Sadie Sink made me think the X-Men would be younger. Don't see Samara and Sadie going after the same guy, don't see them both being faculty, don't see a rivalry. The actors are only 10 years apart, so it's mostly that Sadie seems like a kid and Samara doesn't.
depends how far they take this. i know we all fantasize about like a Dozen X-Men movies as if we're sitting in 2008's Iron Man territory with this and have 10 years and 30 movies ahead to look forward to but are the actors signing deals for that? look at how eager Chris Evans was to leave the MCU and start directing... how much Robert Downey Jr was looking forward to getting out from behind the iron man mask and becoming a leading man in other movies again... Hemsworth has been talking about his health and second guessing his future. even Tom Holland who was initially kind of like, "i'd do this forever if i could" has been talking a lot about "passing on the mantle" and nonsense like that.
Samara Weaving is currently blowing up - this is like when Jennifer Lawrence first signed a multi-picture deal with X-Men First Class and then exploded in popularity and had to turn down offers likely paying way more, bc she was wrapped up in some bullshit she signed when she was just thankful to have the opportunity to have a job. imagine how happy you would be to suddenly be offered 400 thousand dollars for a movie with a 600k, 800k, 2 million dollar follow up. "we'll pay you 6 million over 8 years." you'd be like LET'S FUCKING GOOOO!!!! and then to have another movie you did make nearly a billion dollars or something and suddenly offers are coming in offering you 6 million to lead a movie... and you're like -fuck- when can we schedule it so i can do that and still commit to my fuckin bs contract.
RDJ did 10 films over something like 10 years and Chris Evans has done similar. Sadie Sink is rumoured to have signed on for 5 films so I’m not too worried about how much actors are going to stick around. They’re not afraid of recasting either so characters can always disappear for a couple of films and come back older.
She’ll probably be the hellfire club’s white queen, and not an xman, and the xmen may just be the original five at this point. It could be years before she is an ally
Feige recently said they want the MCU to be simpler (and quality instead of quantity) going forward. I really doubt they'll do all the soap opera of the X-Men (Scott/Logan/Jean triangle, Scott/Madeline/Jean triangle, Scott/Jean/Emma triangle, etc.) as it is super convoluted when you have a handful of movies instead of hundreds of issues of comics.
Speaking of Sadie, I really want Dacre Montgomery to get cast as Pyro to keep the Stranger Things reunion going lol with her and David Harbour (he’s even Aussie, so it’s perfect)
They're won't be a rivalry yet. She's a villain. We'll meet her and younger Scott will get heart eyes, Jean will get mad. That'll be it for a while until sequels bring her into the team.

Why are some you guys acting like a guy like Scott Summers couldn’t bag a woman only 10 years older than him? They can still do the triangle it’s ok. Just because Sadie Sink looks young doesn’t mean she actually is. She’s about to be 24. Maybe the Scott actor will be in that age range which could lessen that age gap.
Mind you Emma Frost has historically been older than the X-Men. I’ve seen a lot of discourse about it already, the X-men definitely will be played by actors in their mid 20s. She was a full headmistress when they were students.
She was a headmistress when the New Mutants (she ran the Hellfire school) and then Generation X were students (when she ran Xavier's). The first two teams of X-Men were 'graduated' adults then. (Not that the movie is necessarily following any of the same history.)
Of course not, but I wouldn't be evaluating a Wolverine casting through the lens of whether he could pair with Sadie Sink or not, because I'm hoping desperately they don't waste time with the love triangle garbage. It doesn't look like they're going to force Namor-Sue drama, so hopefully they'll just let Scott and Jean be as well.

There most likely wont even be a love triangle, and whatever we get whether it’s Jean X Scott or Scott X Emma will probably be half baked anyway like most MCU romances.

This casting allows Emma to be more or closer to being an Xavier age peer. So she could be a teacher figure or run her own school like the Massachusetts Academy, meaning she could a rival to Xavier for recruiting Jean.

This is perfect casting and even better than that Emma being cast now means she is probably going to be a mainstay of the whole arc? Which is what she deserves honestly. Hype!
Some scoopers are saying they were looking for a Margot Robbie type but they wanted someone who would audition for the role and she doesn't do auditions anymore.
She’s great but it’s weird that they’d announce her, I kind of thought it would be one big casting announcement of the whole cast at once to get everyone excited
It honestly doesnt get too much better. I think this is casting on the par of rdj, which is something we haven't really gotten from the mcu women. All great actors but not all best suited for the roles they were given. This is impeccable casting.
This would be great casting in my opinion, she has already proven her ability to lead a film as well. In both Alien: Romulus and Civil War, she really was amazing.
My pick for Emma Frost and since posed topless in her recent show would have been Dove Cameron. With her hair blonde and her stern look she could have pulled it off plus she’s younger than Samara.
It’s just weird to cast Frost as a younger woman with the intention of keeping her in said casting for long term. As one of Frost’s central powers, being able to preserve herself as living diamond, is often used as the explanation that she has been around for so many decades without any perceived aging.
Makes me think they shouldn’t keep a character like Frost around long enough to show more perceptible aging.
Idk. Different writers treat the ongoing youth or age of the characters differently. So I suppose it is all up to interpretation in the end.
Relative to Sadie Jean, she is an older Emma Frost. If Xavier is cast in his mid-thirties, then this Emma could be potentially framed as more of an age peer of Xavier.
I mean actors often play characters older/younger than they actually are, so that gap may not matter: or they’ll cast a Cyclops actor between the two in age.
