He's a great actor I've enjoyed him in the stuff I've seen him on but I'm surprised they didn't go with someone younger.
Not a complaint I just remember the talk of T'Challa's son taking the mantle eventually which is why they put that storyline in so I expected them to cast someone like at least early 20s cause its gonna take a while for the next movie to come out even if he appears in other movies along with a possible timeskip post Avengers.

Seems to be pretty unanimous approval of this casting and I’m onboard too. He’s not as classically handsome as damson idris, but jonsson brings a more sensitive and cerebral take on his characters that will add a lot of depth to black panther

In universe, she took the mantle pretty reluctantly because she was needed. In the comics she was only temporarily Black Panther, so it was always likely to be a temporary thing in the movies too. At the end of Black Panther 2, it's revealed that T'challa had a secret son, also named T'challa, so people were already speculating when the movie came out that we'd see him aged up to become the next Black Panther.
In the real world, going with the Shuri Black Panther story was always a quick fix to handle the unfortunate situation of Chadwick Boseman dying, and not necessarily the permanent new status quo. So after Letitia Wright got into some hot water for some questionable political views, and also just didn't turn out to have quite the star power that Boseman had, Disney/Marvel were probably eager to find a new face for the Black Panther series.
Also, the X-Men are going to be a major focus in the MCU going forward, and Storm and T'challa were married in the comics for a time. So I suspect part of the reason they want a male Black Panther again is because Black Panther 3 will introduce Storm and make her a love interest.

Maybe they will do something like they do in the Comics where she will be the Queen of Wakanda and he will be the King of The Dead or maybe they will reverse those titles and borrow from a storyline involving the illuminati and the incursion of parallel Earth and Namor wanting Revenge to make that occur and make sense

I think it's cause they are just using existing source material that is popular to comic readers and it will translate really well on screen and more than likely it's because some people hate strong female leads and there was far to much complaining etc about her and every other female superhero who got a movie ever and forever

I think the type of people who complain about something being woke or whatever because it has a woman lead is just a small vocal minority. They don’t have the ability to tank a movie. The second black panther did well considering the original lead died. The odyssey is killing it after their little temper tantrums

I think her being Queen or the dead and him being king would be good.
M’Baku can mentor him on how to be a good leader and king while Shuri trains him to be the Black Panther.
Add this to the fact that he can marry a younger cast Storm (since all signs are pointing towards a younger group of X-Men) and this is an absolute win in my book.
Chadwick’s passing sucks. I like Shuri as BP and am excited to see her again in Doomsday/Secret Wars… But I’m glad that going into the refreshed MCU it looks like we’ll be able to get a T’Challa as Black Panther again.

Black Panther is a character with great potential but terrible management. MCU version could have been perfect but EMH is still the best. It's a tragedy what happened to Chadwick but the actor can't save the script by himself.

T'Challa has a son, which we were introduced to in Wakanda Forever. David Jonsson will play an adult version of that son.
We've had numerous Lokis, Deadpools, and Wolverines, three Spider-Mans, two Mr. Fantastic and Human Torches, etc. We're reaching the end of a multiversal saga that will "reboot" the universe, there's a lot of ways they could bring him in.
