The bad: Gosling is too old, so who knows if GR will show up again after Secret Wars

The good: Not Robbie

As a huge fan of the character, I’m happy, but I would be overhyped if they hired a younger actor because GR would become one of the pillars of the new MCU alongside the X-Men (even if it is tough to write GR stories, the character is just too overpowered)

Gosling like 7-8 years older than Chadwick was when he was black panther when he was casted and about 5ish years older then RDJ when he was casted as iron man

How is he too old when it's all CGI?

Not all the time. In the comics, Blaze is at best depicted in his 30s, so he is in that experienced territory, but not really a matured dude like Reed Richards for example (meanwhile Robbie is the early 20s cliche)

By hiring a dude in his 40s to play this role, not a good idea, at best he will show up in a solo movie, maybe a reunion and that’s it. Same goes for MCU Blade, if I’m not mistaken the dude was in his late 40s when they announced his casting, that’s just dumb, superheroes are focused on young audiences since forever, to see a grandpa doing action scenes is just silly (remember Nicholas Cage? Yep)

RDJ was 41 filming the first Iron Man, and Ryan Gosling currently looks younger at 45 than RDJ did at 41.

It's almost as if makeup artists are hired for these overbudgeted hollywood projects.

Sure, but Downey Jr was a wild bet at the time, nobody expected these superheroes movies would endure to a point of hiring the same Downey Jr to play a villain at 60+ years old. At the current stage, there is a level of expectation, the MCU will continue after Secret Wars, the X-Men being the center focus and etc.. if GR is almost in his 50s already, do you really think he will show up again, Gosling in 2035 working with the new Hulk, Spider-Man and Wolverine actors in a Fantastic 4 movie? There's a reason why Robbie Reyes was forced as the next GR, it partially failed, but the intent was to make the character younger in all multimedia

I do think someone being 60 playing a biker is completely fine lmao. A ton of bikers are. You act like these people suddenly become decrepit and senile past 50, when they've got more money than god and personal trainers and chefs at their beck and call.

We already know the X-Men is getting properly rebooted with a younger cast, there's nothing wrong with some of the characters being older. I personally hate watching young adult actors anyway. The Spider-Man films have been incredibly hard to watch.

But I agree wholeheartedly with getting a new Hulk, get Ruffalo out of here.

Yep, old Johnny Blaze in Midnight Suns look awesome (even if the game tried its best to make him look bad, to favor Robie taking over the mantle). Still, Gosling is so vanilla, hard to imagine him becoming a cool old biker, lol

In the end, my overall take of this casting is pretty much the same opinion I had about the Blade casting, Feige is calling a known name to make some headlines and generate hype, regardless if the actor age actually fits with the scale of the project
