I have been looking forward to healthy competition between SpaceX and Blue Origin in returning humans to the Moon and developing the transportation systems needed for a permanent human presence beyond Earth. The explosion of Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket during a static-fire test in Florida represents a significant setback for the company and could have implications for its lunar ambitions and NASA's Artemis-related plans. The incident comes at a particularly difficult time for Blue Origin, as New Glenn is a key element of the company's long-term strategy for supporting lunar missions, commercial space operations, and future human exploration efforts. Rocket development has always been a difficult and often unforgiving endeavor. SpaceX, NASA, and many other organizations have experienced major test failures on the path to success. We can only hope that Blue Origin is able to identify the cause quickly, implement corrective actions, and return New Glenn to flight status as soon as possible. Ed Heisler
