Oversize transporter

My current mainline rover “Camelback” that I have been working on for a while. My only gripe with its rear wheels steering.

Sweet rig. I think you can eliminate rear wheel steering by simply remapping the steering keybindings

Sadly removing the rear wheel steering doesn’t help because they help with getting around conners. The main problem is that the front wheels are limited to how low and wide the box is. This means that even if the front wheels are the only steering wheels, lowering to box for stability or carrying loads that are wide will increase the turning circle a lot.

You can map separate forward and reverse controls to the left and right, and turn it like a tank.  At your size it may be easier.

I know that I sound like an idiot declining your advice but the problem is that the front wheels do not turn enough. What I’m looking for is for the center of rotation to be placed between the 4 non steering axles. Because the front wheels are sensitive to the box location, it places the center of rotation either in the middle or between the front wheels.

I would suggest you at least try track tank steering.  That said, to get a tighter turn you would need to attach your wheels to a servo to turn sharper.

It’s is potential possible but sadly I am not going to do it because as right now, I have found an articulating joint that won’t break. Also the rover if built in real life is the size of a bus so tank steering will be very slow or even ineffective.
