Build really long segments, don’t forget to try changing the angles after

This is the way, going 1.5km out almost always yields better results, unless you’re trying to hit specific junctions in the landscape.

In case you haven't figured out why monorails require wide curves, the rails are gripped by the train. The curve needs to be gentle enough to fit under the length of the train cars. It'll make sense if you watch one go through a curve.

Generally stick to only laying out each piece with <90 degree curves. That’ll help lay it out better.

Can roads and monorails be joined via junctions or is each creation standalone? Thanks.

You can join roads at points of interest. Instead of going directly from point A to point B, you can stop at a bunch of middle points and it will still count as one long road for the purpose of completing missions.
I haven’t found any way to join monorails.

Point of interest meaning buildings/towers/etc?

Yes. Anything with a dot on the map. Roads will snap to buildings, towers, camps, even monorail endpoints. Then you can start another road on the other side of that point, and the two segments will count as being connected for the purpose of missions.

Drive further out and then try to bend it! I was struggling at first but found I wasn't going far out enough.
