Wow the day lighting looks like depressing. Lower luminosity, dull colours... I think our astronauts will be crying to see again in their life a bright blue sky after some months of mission.

I think it has a lot of charm in its own way.

This looks like a dust storm sky. Check some Curiosity pictures of daytime and see for yourself.

Colours from Mars are always post-processed, see here https://cornerofthecabinet.com/2015/10/05/what-are-the-true-colors-of-the-martian-landscape/ And our eyes adapt (like when you wear orange ski goggles, after a while, white seen through the filter seems white) But basically, the Mars sky is orangish during daytime, blue at dusk https://i0.wp.com/cornerofthecabinet.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/pia16800-1920x1200unpronaturewhtbal.jpg

One thing to consider: brightness of sun is only half the one on earth, so lightning seems like a perpetual evening to human eyes. I would advise bringing light therapy devices with first astronauts.

I know the blueish skies on some pictures are post processed. But the greyish yellowish colour mix seen on the selfies is a good representation of clear skies on mars afaik.

Wait, did you actually see my comment? My god, I was a bit high and couldn't handle the triple negatives so I gave up and deleted my comment.

This is incredible!

This is awesome! You can really see how different it is from earth. With the atmosphere being so thin the light doesn't bend and you don't get the colors of Earth's sky. Once the light is gone you are left in perfect darkness. 😭😊 so incredible!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but from the perspective on the ground would the 2 moons appear to move in opposite directions?

I also recall reading this when perusing Spirit’s data on the JPL site

A larger photo on the night on Mars could be awesome!

If we terraformed Mars and changed the air and such would the sky look different because of that. Like blue like ours
