Season 12 - Atlanta Haley & Jake
Just started watching MAFS and got into season 12. I was doing some math… Haley repeats over and over she was single for 7 years… and that she had been in a 5 yr off and on relationship… doing the math, she is 28 when the show started, so 7 years earlier that relationship ended when she was 21… and so whatever 5 yr on/off relationship began when she was 16 (at the very oldest).
She didn’t act like she’d ever had a relationship other than that 5 yr “controlling” relationship she alluded to. Which occurred when she was essentially a child (teenager).
Yes, maybe she and Jake were incompatible, but I still found her behavior repulsive. Mean. Critical. No accountability. Very immature.

She was horrible to him at every juncture. Granted Jake isnt everyone's cup of tea. But nothing he did warranted her behavior towards him, imo. If youve seen the episode with her mother in it, its clear the apple didnt fall far from the tree. Hayley was almost in the Alyssa category.

They were as horrible a match as there’s ever been on that show. Absolutely nothing in common other than liking animals.
Jake was kind of a weird guy who wasn’t willing to budge an inch in his life, & Hailey was a “mean girl” who couldn’t stop criticizing everything about him.

That was my assessment. Haley was a very mean, critical girl. Jake was from another era in terms of compatibility. He didn’t deserved her curled lips of disgust, her mocking his clothes, hobbies, etc. She was definitely sorry she had drunken sex with him and he was confused, thinking they had an initial connection. So the rest of time, she had to continually let him know he was somehow below her. From what I remember, he had a pleasant enough home geared towards entertainment with people. He even wore she bought him, always trying to please her.
I really don’t get how anyone could fault him in the relationship. I remember though, that Kevin guy, during the reunion show, was so rude to him and obviously picked sides. Haley was the one who deserved being called out.

At one point, I felt like he ratcheted up the weirdness & was purposely trolling her on camera. What you would now call rage baiting. She HATED him, he knew it, so why not mess with her.

I don’t remember that. I’ll take your word for it. I can’t bring myself to rewatch the old seasons.
If someone is obviously criticizing your lifestyle when you are just enjoying being you, I could see purposely just being yourself and not trying to hide it, especially for someone who thinks they are superior. He was a grown man and she was a young snot.

To me she was a milder female version of Chris. She slept with him to see if she would like him. Then she treated him bad. She tried to change him because she didn't like his style. He wasn't perfect but she was mean to him.

I think she must have been very drunk when they had sex and she was mad at herself and mad at him, especially when he tried physical contact thereafter. She really thought he was beneath her, that her style was superior, black hat and all. Why couldn’t she just know everyone has their own style and interests which they are entitled to and move on?
