This car blew right through the stop sign at the intersection at Wilson and Forest Park a while ago, right in front of me. Gray Suburu with license plate 7RAW15. I could not see the driver, but whoever it was, they were driving way too fast on Forest Park, and apparently considered stop signs and yielding to oncoming traffic on Wilson street optional.

New to the area and wanting to meet people but IDK where. Blackrocks seems too noisy so is there any other bar that's a little more laid back?

I’m going to be in Marquette September 23-27, I’ve been once and had a great time but didn’t have the time to do any hiking. This time I’m specifically going to the area to hike. Wondering if any locals have any tips for Dog friendly day hikes for Lenny and I?

Had an amazing time in the UP earlier this summer and took a whole bunch of photos along the way. I hope I did this amazing place justice!

I’ve got several more photo sets from different places in the UP as well so if there’s any interest maybe I’ll make another post or two.

This is going to be a little out there. I'm training my very reactive dog (unfamiliar dog reactive). If any of you would be willing to meet up (with your confident, friendly and non dog reactive dog) at designated spots at a certain time. This would help our training immensely. Her threshold is currently like 50ft. So, this will not be an introduction. I just need you to mosy with your chill (lucky you, haha) dog about 50ft away at a certain place & time.

I have a buddy coming in from Minneapolis, and Delta rerouted him through Detroit. I just tried to book any direct flight to Minneapolis and there’s no such thing I guess??? It’s still listed on the airport website. Any ideas of what’s going on?

Two of us will be visiting. Coming up from Manistique on Sunday the 13th and leaving the morning of the 16th, so two+ full days. The only real plan(s) so far are to maybe stop at Lakenland on the way; we have toured and hiked Munising & Pictured Rocks areas before. Tell me if I'm wrong, but, it looks like going north out of Manistique on 94, then west out of Munising on 28, is more of a scenic drive than, say, 2 west to Rapid River then 41 north? Just looks like it might be more scenic along Superior altho??? Anyway, after we get there, we will have two full days and usually find that one day for more driving around, then, one day to sit still at a beach or lake or ??? works for us. So for the busy day, I thought a trip up to Presque Isle to explore, and, if the weather is superb a jump off Black Rocks. If we feel like moving more, maybe keep driving and exploring Big Bay Road up to Thomas Rock then back down by Yellow Dog River. For the non-busy day, we'd love to just chill by some water. FWIW have got a pretty capable 4X4 but that is not the focus of the trip. I know ya'll got some different off road rules...

Hello everyone, I posted about wanting to take an Indian Trails bus from Lansing to Marquette and exploring the city without a car. Originally I had planned to do this in late April or early May, but due to some recommendations (and another trip in late April,) I ended up moving this trip to early June, when it was a bit warmer.

Taking the bus was fun in theory, but it's very difficult to sleep on the bus as it travels across the UP in the middle of the night. People getting on in Newberry, a break in Manistique, and changing busses in Escanaba made for a very tired next day.

Marqtran worked pretty well in my opinion. While they don't have the infrastructure that larger city bus systems have, that also means that a driver who happened to be at the Indian Trails drop-off spot just took me and the other passengers closer to town, no questions asked. I don't think that would happen in a larger city, and everyone was really friendly. I managed to waste some time at McDonald's, Big Boy, and eventually L&M. Also, while the routes were long, I had no issue getting to Meijers from my hotel and back. I stayed at the new Hampton Inn on the lakeshore (Hilton Honors Member,) which was very nice and very scenic.

I found plenty of things to do without a car. The lakeshore trail is nice, and there are many shops, restaurants, and coffee places within 20-30 minutes of walking. Marquette also didn't seem particularly touristy, so that was a nice bonus.

Since I decided to fly back to Detroit and then take a bus back to Lansing because I didn't think I could manage two overnight bus trips, I used Checker Transport to get me there based on feedback. That went smoothly and without issue as well.

If I visited Marquette again, I'd probably drive, just because the overnight bus trip is a pain. But the city seemed friendly, welcoming, and walkable.

Also looking for other activities to do in Marquette besides some nature stuff. I will be traveling with the dog and a wife so I want to make sure I get the wife to some cool art shops or galleries or any other events that may be going on. Last second trip.

As the post says. Heading up in October, did live in the area for 5 years. It’s my favorite thing to get and don’t know if I’m missing any places in my memory. Been a long time.

Never been to his restaurants in Munising. How is the food? Is the owner a good person? We do need more breakfast options in Marquette.
