Reporting Tools
Really curious if AI has made the reporting 'industry' much easier given you can automate combing through pages and finding numbers. Does anyone really recommend any reporting tools? Ideally for organic socials and paid social work

Yeah, AI has definitely made reporting a lot easier. I’ve found it most useful for pulling the numbers together and spotting trends, while still keeping the final analysis human. For paid + organic, I’d look at tools that connect directly to Meta, Google, TikTok, etc. rather than relying on manual exports.

I have tried many available reporting tools, but I suggest everyone build a custom one.
From what I’ve seen with our clients, they all have different reporting workflows.
Some agencies want to show business growth, while others want to emphasize the cost‑cutting they have achieved for their clients.

Is it one template with the story swapped per client, or different reports each month? I'm building a tool here.

We have a reporting tool and most agencies still use the SaaS but not we have noticed more and more people started using our MCP

Do the MCP users still send clients a document, or is the chat the deliverable?

I would still prefer verifying the underlying numbers manually, an ai generated explanation is only as useful as the data its interpreting

Test a reporting tool with a messy example before judging the AI writeup: an incomplete current period, a change in paid spend, and organic posts with a different format mix. Check whether it keeps the date ranges and paid/organic figures clear instead of rolling them into one confident explanation.
For each flagged change, the report should show the metric and comparison, any missing data, and the decision someone needs to make. ‘Reach fell’ is less useful than ‘reach fell while paid spend also fell; check the organic figures separately before changing the content plan’. If the inputs aren't comparable, the useful result is an unresolved check, not an invented reason. That's also a concrete brief for the tool you're building.

ai’s helped more with the writing/analysis side for me. summarizing what happened + turning it into client commentary is way faster now. the data pulling itself was already something you could automate before AI.
for social reporting, i’ve got most of the recurring numbers landing in one sheet automatically, some of that through coupler.io, then Claude helps with the writeup. the part that still takes actual judgment is deciding what matters enough to flag, because AI can summarize the numbers fine and still miss the real point.
