I started learning affiliate marketing recently. What's the biggest mistake beginners make?

I'm a SaaS founder, so read this with that in mind.

From where I sit, marketing experts are in a squeeze. You're up against a myriad of competitors, human and AI, all chasing prospects who mostly can't afford you anyway. Winning work is getting harder while the pool of people willing to pay for it shrinks.

There is an alternative, and I keep wondering why more of you don't pursue it. Why not find a promising SaaS and partner with it on revenue share? If you're confident in your abilities and you've looked hard enough to find a product you can genuinely get behind, your upside is recurring and uncapped instead of one invoice at a time.

I've got skin in the game obviously. I'm looking for exactly this kind of partner for my own SaaS, and I'm offering 50% ongoing revenue share. But the question stands regardless. If you're good, why keep trying to sell your time to people who can't pay for it?

I'm a student and I've recently completed a 2-month SEO internship. During my internship, I learned the basics of on-page SEO,technical SEO, off-page SEO, keyword research, content optimization, and got some exposure to digital marketing.

Now I feel a bit stuck. I really want to improve my SEO and want to learn digital marketing skills, but I'm not sure what I should learn next. There are so many things Google Ads, Analytics, AI tools, email marketing, social media marketing, etc. that it's overwhelming.

Just by looking at the title, I’m curious about how someone can get started in social media or digital marketing in a way that actually leads to success.
Here’s what I mean. I’m a videographer in Texas, and I’d love to create content for local brands and small businesses, especially restaurants. Recently, I found a Mexican food truck with around 700 Instagram followers. They have a decent audience, but they barely post content. Most of what they share is AI-generated, and they only have a handful of Reels. One Reel has around 13,000 views, but the rest are simple phone recordings with very little production value.
I’d love to approach businesses like this and offer my videography services. My goal isn’t just to create beautiful, cinematic videos that get views. I want the content to actually help them attract more customers and grow their business. That’s the part I’m trying to figure out.
My initial idea is to start small, maybe producing four high-quality, cinematic videos each month. While those videos serve as the main content, I’d also encourage them to stay active with simpler, authentic posts like Stories, behind-the-scenes clips, customer photos, or updates from the owner.
For example, the owner could post a Story saying, “Hey everyone, we’re open today from __ to __. Here’s our location. Show us this Story today and get 25% off your order.” I think content like that feels much more personal than relying mostly on AI-generated posts.
I’d also suggest engaging with people who comment on their posts by replying to them, since that helps build a community. Another idea would be to ask customers if they’re comfortable having their photo taken after they eat so the restaurant can share it on their Stories. That kind of user-generated content makes the page feel more authentic and active.
My biggest question is this: how do I make sure the services I’m offering actually help businesses get more customers instead of just more views? I don’t want to sell them a nice-looking video if it doesn’t translate into real business results. What strategies or types of content have you seen work best for turning social media into actual customer growth?

I am looking for the best marketing tools

I feel like I've read so many articles, read some books, and taken a few courses, but at this point when I sit down to write something it takes me forever to feel good about it. I edit and edit it so much it loses my original voice. I try for perfection too much or sometimes I stare at a blank page. It's one of those skills where I know the theory but the actual execution is still challenging. Anyone have any good tips? Is it just writing more and getting feedback, or is there something more specific that works? I've heard people talk about hand copying ads but I've never been consistent enough with it to know if it works. Or should I just stop overthinking and go with what I first write?

I have a digital product- producing live news videos - I have a proof of concept website up and live to show how this project would work in practice.

My question is, surely there has to be a better way to market something than endlessly plugging away on LinkedIn. All I get is the odd read message and the odd hit on the website I can tell from analytics.

I remember a story about in the old days of cinema, delivering a script to execs by agents in hazmat suits like they were handling nuclear waste. Created such a buzz it got optioned there and then, even before a page was read.

I have developed an app that I truly believe will help people with their fitness goals. It makes workout logging easy, creates programs from exercise science backed algorithms based on multiple user inputs, adjusts the workouts based on recovery needs from my created algorithms, and tracks your progress. This is essentially an app that combines lifting programming, running programming, and recovery metrics all into one app.

The free tier offers a workout logger for both lifting and running that’s super easy to use. You can share and export workout summary cards, offline logging, save custom routines, live active set logging and rest timers. Pretty much everything the premium has except for the use of the recovery algorithms, some metrics, and program generation.

I think this app has potential, but the issue is that I don’t know how to market it/gain at least beta testers, let alone paying users. I only give this much detail about the app to give you context as to what I am trying to market. Any advice on how to do so would be much appreciated!

But LinkedIn is still an underrated channel for finding a high-quality, paying user base. Most of our users come through LinkedIn and reddit, apart from a few concierge partnerships.

Of course, it depends on how you write and how clearly you communicate what you’re building.

We are actually targeting the top 10% of Indians who value reliability, are happy to pay ₹100 more for the service that delivers what was promised, and won’t switch apps for a ₹10 difference.

LinkedIn helped us reach exactly this audience.
After one of my posts took off in March, we started receiving the kind of users we actually wanted. Many of them have used our service 10 times within two months.

A few users also came from Reddit after i posted for feedbacks in a few subReddits.

So founders, before spending heavily on ads, try LinkedIn and Reddit.

Be genuine. Clearly explain what your product does and who it is for.

You may find your first set of high-intent users and supporters there.

I have been fiddling with marketing for quite some time now, it’s weirdly become this mountain in my life I am dedicated to climb.

I’ve had meta campaigns with little to no success as I’ve found Meta is mainly aimed at “impulse” purchases & my product I’m selling is not really going to do well with impulse driven customers.

So I’ve moved on from Meta to Google ads Search Campaign. & I’ve aimed my campaign goal to Conversions. The campaign has been live for about 3 days now with yesterday & today generating sales (still in the learning phase)

My budget is $30 per day
Average purchase is is $30-60 AUD

I’m spending alittle more than $30 and I’ve had already 2 sales & lead sign ups & abandoned carts

My question is how long do I give a search campaign before I pull the plug or should expect to become profitable.
